Knockoff Highlander Katana Mods

So the sword came in the mail Thursday of last week and all I can say is wow. Daryl Kyle's (Irishamericanlad) replica handle is just stunningly beautiful (even more so when compared to the knockoff one). He sent me a resin handle, wooden blade, and one aluminum and three resin tsuba.

The package as it arrived. It arrived on time and well packaged.

As you can see, this handle is just perfect in every way. From what Daryl told me, this is a cast taken from the production mould of the original Highlander.

He was very kind and emailed me multiple times throughout the process. The cast for the H1 tsuba had some flaws from the casting process, so he also sent me two H2 tsuba and an aluminum one (He also sent a real small one that looks like you could make a necklace out of which I didn't expect)

So I spent a week finding the materials to put it all the pieces together. I decided to use the aluminum tsuba because I liked the extra weight.

All in all this replica is just perfect. It has a lot stronger feel than the cheap knockoff that I had. I want to thank Daryl again because this was an easy and great process all around. It was a pleasure doing business with him.

Now lets compare it to the knockoff one that I had earlier in this thread.

First thing you'll notice is that the knockoff is larger. Like, A LOT larger. Daryl's has a nice feel when you hold it because it is not as thick.

You can see that some of the details are very close (in fact, the knockoff has a little bit of added detail in places), but the size completely ruins it.

The knockoff is suitable as a "close enough", but Daryl Kyle's replica taken from the original mould and is (obviously) more accurate. The cheap handle feels like it could crack with the lightest swing, but the other handle has a strong weighted feel to it.

It was a lot of fun to put together and is a 1000% improvement over the knock off. It was great doing business with you!

Thank you again!
