Kingsman: "Carnwennan 9mm" * Video Update 8.23.18

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

Today I have finished most of the drop down mechanism for the under barrel shotgun. I also shaved down the rear sight and made a slide release lock for the under barrel shotgun.

Nice work. may i ask what your using there? I can't tell if it's wood metal or plastic.

Thanks! I'm using all aluminum for this project except for the grips which will be wood. I'm debating on checkering the grips by hand or having them cnc'd. The checkering looks like an art and I would be a big time novice!

If it weren't for you Sean, I would be talking to myself in this thread hahaha

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

LoL. well your getting allot of views. what did you use to bond the small pieces of aluminum together? that's a cool way to form something in metal. nice work!:thumbsup

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

I'm following along, enjoying seeing your progress... :)

Why did you laminate those thin pieces of aluminum together for the shotgun release? No thicker stock? What did you use for it, JB Weld?

I just used superglue and started filling. I've never done anything like that but it seems to be working out so far!

Thanks for following MJ! So just super glue for those pieces. I didn't have any thicker thicker stock aluminum so I decided to try this method. If it doesn't hold up, I'll try something a little thicker to shape. I plan on using JB Weld on everything that I can pin together. It just takes SO long to cure!

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

My dummy shells came in today but unfortunately they won't fit the shotgun. The dummy rounds are 12 gauge and I think they must have used at least a 20 gauge or 28 gauge shell in the real steel. But no worries, they will look great on display once they are cut down and painted!

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

I'm getting ready to move on to the grips but I'm having an issue. I'm planning on making custom wood grip but everywhere I've looked for checkering tools but they seem to be sold out everywhere. I may have them cnc'd if I can find someone to do them.

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

Really nice progress. The purple usually denotes 16 ga. shells, but the film being a fantasy, means zippo. ;) They had a few colors of shells, including orange. I've only seen less lethal orange shotgun shells, in 12 ga. Also, the shells look smooth, not ribbed like your average shotgun shell.

I tried doing my own checkering once. I don't have the proper vice to hold the grips though and it was a disaster.

I may 3D print some custom shells since I don't want to mess with real rounds (removing primers, size)

I can't seem to find a service that will cnc checkering for some reason.

What about asking DaveG ?

What about asking DaveG ?

I chatted with DaveG a few weeks ago and he said he didn't care for cnc checkering on wood. He suggested that I buy the tools and learn myself. I'd love to go that route but like I said for some reason there is a shortage. I have seen quite a few wood checkered 1911 online but haven't found a service yet. I could always 3D print them but I'd prefer to do them in wood, especially since I plan on doing a few builds.

I have a box of empty shotgun shells. If you want some let me know.

Hi Sundowner!

I am usually not an arms-guy but I looove the "Carnwennan 9mm" (great name by the way!)
If you make a run I would be ready to order two.
I look forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks so much! I'm trying to decide if I want to do a resin copy, parts kit or completed airsoft conversion. This one will be for sale but I'm putting a lot of work into the display so I can get a decent price for it. Trying to fund the project! I'm pretty new to doing runs

Re: Kingsman: The Secret Service, "Carnwennan 9mm"

Amazing work all around. Can't wait to see it finished and definitely interested if you decide to take commissions for more in the future.
