Killer croc

Okay, folks, I'm taking my first tentative steps into this Killer Croc costume project for myself for DragonCon. Here is a drawing I worked up of the design I decided to go with. I like the Croc that has the head that looks more like an actual croc instead of the human-croc hybrid. Below this one is a diagram showing how the costume would fit around my pudgy bod. The head, forearms, hands and feet/legs will be sculpted and made out of either latex or urethane but the upper body and upper arms will probably be a build-up of foam & fabric covered in latex, with the muscle pattern sewn into the suit before the latex skin is applied. I'm pretty sure I can get the scale textures of the sculpted pieces and built pieces to match well enough. Or rather, I hope I can.

As you can see, I have a pudgy mid-section but I'm going to try really hard to lose some serious poundage before DC if I can. I'm also planning to mechanize the hands with a pull-cable device so that my hands can operate Croc's hands. I've built those kinds of mechanisms before so that shouldn't be a problem.

And here is the head sculpture as it stands currently. This represents about three days worth of sculpting. Still a very long way to go and a LOT of detailing to do but I think it's at least starting to look like a man-croc. The head on the my sketch actually looks a bit too much like Godzilla so I printed off several good shots of crocodiles to work from when doing the sculpture. Let me know what y'all think, good or bad. Don't worry, I can take it.

HOLY COW!
That looks like a pretty amazing start to this.
I'll be keeping a keen eye on this after getting really in love with Killer Croc while playing Batman: Arkham Asylum!

Good Luck

Nice work, though just personaly if I had the talent I would have gone with the Arkam Asylem or first animated series my self but still very nice!

You may want to have some vent holes in the feet, so your suit doesn't fill with sweat.
That'll be a toughie to wear for any extended amount of time! :lol

Great idea, though - looking forward to seeing the final result!

Ha-Ha!!! Yes, the unforgiving Atlanta heat. Don't worry, I'll have a battery-powered cooling fan in the muzzle of the mask and I'll also be wearing a Kold Vest, otherwise the only shots people would be getting of the costume would be of it lying on the ground with me passed out in it. :lol

Very interesting idea,I haven't seen this costume completed before!
Should be a big hit when completed!

cool! I'm planning a full set of upper body and facial prosthetics in foam rubber for a short film project I'd LIKE to do. I want to cross the Arkham croc with the first animated croc and apply it to a friend of mine.
