Kick-Ass is awesome!

Saw a prescreening yesterday. Absolutely fabulous job I thought. Deviates somewhat from the graphic novel/8 issues but I suppose that's because the comics weren't finished until the movie was near postproduction (?). Either way, absolutely fantastic fun. Most certainly a hard "R" but wouldn't have expected less without diverting from the book substantially. I don't think the hard-core Millar fans will be disappointed on this (i.e. not the profound scalding disappointment of WANTED for those fans of the book). Anyway, my 2cents . . .

Would love others insights here as long as no spoilers on this thread.

Hells yes! This movie is easily the best movie I've seen at the cinema this year (good old UK....). Awesome movie and I love that another film has used one of my favourite action tracks - "Bad Reputation" as used in Shrek's wrestling scene.

You guys are gonna love it..... Hit Girl is currently my desktop wallpaper (what a, well, kick ass, character). :thumbsup

Any when you finally see it, maybe THEN we can get some good discussion going on the costume. ;)

I just got home from seeing this movie... and just gotta say... OH HELL YEAH!!! :)

If you are new to this thread and haven't seen the film then beware of spoilers - you may accidentally be spoiled so don't read on if you want a non-spoiled experience at the cinema!!!!!!!!

I saw it three times altogether, we had it abit sooner over here in the UK in case your wondering how I fit three showings in such a short amount of time :lol

IMO, I was disappointed in the changes. They were MAJOR changes in my opinion. BUT I do understand that this is a movie and the studio has to make their $, therefore having to make a movie that appeals to a wider audience.

it wasn't dark and violent as the graphic novel was.

Anyways, I'm gonna stop "book" versions before seeing the "movie" versions. I guess this means I'm not reading Eclipse before seeing it :D

I was fine with the changes because, at the end of the day, if this is the only film entry for Kick-Ass - then it finishes on a note of relative closure with the possible sting of future installments. There were a lot of 'Last quarter' revelations in the book that would resulted in the movie ending on quite a sour note for a lot of people. My wife who has not yet read Volume 1 of the collected comics loved it without question and I imagine she will represent the majority of people walking in to this movie. I walked out loving it, and have had the soundtrack on fairly heavy rotation ever since. Although the dialogue snippets do cause me to (often) dive for the volume control if i'm in the office.

Of course for me the ultimate accolade for this film was it being condemned by film critics at the UK Newspaper 'The Daily Mail', who ranted about it being a threat to the moral fiber of society, etc etc.

They should put that on the film posters.

Just got back. Fun enough, but not great. Hit Girl steals the show, without her it would have been a snooze.

Thought the cast was terrific. Everyone very watchable. Some of the girlfriend stuff I could have lived without.

One of those things that improves on the second viewing.

I didn't think it was awesome, but I didn't hate it... I think the comic kinda ruined it for me... it was awesome... this film copped out a bit. Made it a little too happy.

I really hated Kick-Ass flying at the end.
