Seeing as this is a prop forum, I was curious if anyone knew different techniques on how to add different textures to my sculptures. I can make a general form of what I want, but I would like to get help from people whom were more experienced than I was. Any information is welcome.

I use a slush latex to take impressions off of what look like interesting textures (a tip from Dick Smith of makeup fame). This gives you a flexible stamp that you can press into your sculpting medium or roll onto. I've taken stamps of oranges, styrofoam, kiwis, etc. and it helps a lot.

I have heard of slush latex. I worked a bit with liquid latex, however (if I have this correctly) I believe that slush latex is more porous and therefore, more dense. Also, since I am a college student, I would really wish to find a process that would give me an interesting design consistently with relatively little investment into items that have only one use. However, since the time I had started the thread, I have purchased a few sculpting tools. This weekend I have some assignments to accomplish but I hope to test out different methods. Thanks for the help!

Mike evans of Alchemy Works sells an item called Repliscale that helps create easy texturing pads. Just mix some up, place it on a texture you like - it dries in minutes and voila there's your stamp.
