K-2SO helmet build with voice changer

I am going to be creating a K-2SO helmet for SDCC 2017. Ideally I am going to making it with cardboard and using fiberglass and putties to get the ideal shape of the head.

For the voice changer I am limited on a budget, so I can't plunk down the $400+ for a custom voice changer from Hyperdyne. It will be either Wave Shield Voice changer from Arduino https://learn.adafruit.com/wave-shield-voice-changer/building-it or a the Velleman MK 171 http://www.vellemanusa.com/products/view/?country=us&lang=enu&id=522368
I hope to accomplish a decent robotic voice that resembles K-2SO with of course some Britishising on my part, otherwise it will be a 100% performance driven helmet. I really would like the computer to do most of the work, it is after all the 21st century.

Any thoughts on a decent voice changer would be appreciated. I am going to try to prototype out the cardboard helmet in the coming weeks.
 
When using it the modulator pass through mode didn't have any delay
Ah yes, I see using the headphone option gives you no delay. I wonder how long it will work for? It is cool that it continues to work in the background. Is there any special settings you found worked good?
