Just got my budget MR Trooper bucket and all i can say is i love it :)

No probs Gary. It wouldnt be my helmet-of-choice either but I do applaud companies when they try and put out "reasonably" accurate stuff for more affordable pricing.

AFAIK a huge quantity of these have been made (or in production) at least 4,000 - and are on "a slow boat from china". I presume these will start to hit retailers some time in Jan/Feb - although have not found out who the US seller is yet.

Cheers

To repeat, I will be in London next week. Are these buckets available in stores in the UK, or just from Play.com?

Many thanks!

No - the only place in the UK is play.com and theyre mail order only. However I dont think they have stocks right now anyway - I got the impression there was great big freaking ship on its way from Hong Kong.

I think its worth constantly checking with Play.com in case they come in while you're here - in case they could deliver to where you're staying

Many thanks for the info. I'll only be there for five days, and mostly the weekend, so getting it delivered while I'm there won't likely be an option. Thought if I could walk into a shop...

But thanks!

Rick

I can't buy from that site for some reason... :cry

Would love to see more pictures of this helmet.
(I also need a frontal picture with a generic background for my trooper helmets list, if anyone are willing to provide one.) :thumbsup

Might as well up my post count up to 1!

I've got one of these lids - if you need any specific shots, let me know what you need and i'll try my best. As for the generic background, let me know an address to send the pic to and i'll do my best.

Matt

Thanks. :thumbsup

Well, the basic look of the picture I'm after should be something similar to this:

ANH-TrooperMaster-Stunt.jpg

(hope it's okay to use the TM Stunt as an example - oddly, I don't seem to have a good shot of the TM Hero!? :confused)

Just a generic picture.

Considering most people buy the ugly FX lid on feebay forover the price of this lid, this would be worth it or costuming purposes. Price wise and a little tlc, you could have a nice trooping lid. For a prop to display, I agree with Defstar, but for trooping, if they were readily available, its a great deal.

What are the inaccuracies of this helmet?

Pretty much everything compared to the originals but the biggest things are it's symmetrical although i'll admit they did a good job of making a symmetrical helmet look nice in shape, i think the ugliest part for me personally is the earcaps though, if they had done a better job with the ears i'd like it a great deal more.
Again i'm not trying to rubbish the helmet it's just not my personal taste i would have prefered something closer to the shape and look of the originals.
It certainly is much better than the FX style helmets and would be a good budget helmet for costuming, just wondering do the ears come off easily ? would be interesting to see if someone could fabricate some more accurate looking replacements.
Best advice if you really want to compare it to what a real trooper helmet looks like is as ever to visit Jez's site starwarshelmets.com

Thats probably the best ive got at the moment, sorry its not the best ive been sick all day and lost the light! Plus, I haven't got Photoshop anymore otherwise I would edit the stand out.

If its no good Ill try and get a better one in natural light,

Matt

Id wear that instead of an FX anyday. Im thinkin with a little work on the ears that dome would look right smart.
