Just curious, is it no longer against the COC to discuss religion and politics?

Cuz that's all I'm seeing lately, and the mods ain't takin' any action.

Was the ban lifted when i wasn't paying attention?? And can we get it reinstated???????
 
I think as long as no one goes all stupid and offended, and no one reports it. It's just not that big a deal. There are some things people want to be able to talk about with out name calling or just false b s with people they have something in common with. As long as things don't get dragged in the wrong direction this is the only place I know of where I can hear the opinions of people I respect.

I don't think their watching like big brother , I could be wrong, but if something offends you, your supposed to throw up the red flag .
 
No, the policy is the same.

I guess I've seen some threads or posts that are sort of "political", like on the bailout or gas prices. And maybe a random comment like "Global warming my ass!", or something like that. But all that seems pretty innocent to me. Not very incendiary stuff.

But I've not seen anything religious posted anywhere, Matt. You should give examples if you're going to go to the trouble of creating a whole thread registering your complaint.

Well I think maybe we all could use a confessional to get things off our chests. This thread could be the place. I really enjoyed the last one, so lets all join in and post a confession of some thing you may have said on a thread that some one may have taken the wrong way, and maybe you were trying to skate right up to that line with out going over.

Come on now don't be shy.

Lifted ban, no. All I see, in this forum, is people whining, whining, and whining about stuff and people they hate. Since when has this forum become their blog? :thumbsdown
 
Aren't blogs like little letters about your self that don't invite conversation ? See this is more like a community of whiners that come together and share things to whine about. It isn't aboot any one whiner is about all of us whining together. The only alternative is to get a gun and go welcome death. This should be fun, we are here together. A rub the wrong way should be looked at as some one cares enough to share. We are all friends here, until someone recasts one of my pieces.
 
I guess what I don't understand is why the MOD's aren't cracking down, but I asked on in private a few questions about it last year.

They really had a few good points, which was basically to shut my mouth or they would send someone to kick in my teeth.

After that message, I stopped going outside. But truly, I guess I get tired of people talking politics, religion, and getting hateful and namecalling.

And NO one made me a MOD, so you don't have to go there. I just think we could be more kind to each other.

I guess the difference is a discussion about politics-religion vs. a mention of them. The root intent of the ban is to prevent us from tearing each other apart. Others, myself included, mentioned the Mormon church in the ancestry thread. They are a related to the main topic of that thread. If we started talking about Dogma Props I am sure the Catholic Church would be referenced. No bashing just facts relating to the movie and its characters and costumes.

The Ark in Raiders supposedly held the 10 commandments of God. So and so just posted a pic of his scan of the tablets in the studio Scale section. I think the mods understand there is a little wiggle room, but the basic COC still needs to be in place. Thats how I understand it anyway.

Nope. Each blog entry is a forum about the topic, or 'complaint,' at hand where anyone can comment on and engage in further discussions with the author or fellow posters.

Oh they always lock the threads I'm really enjoying. If you don't talk about things people really care about and maybe push them a little, you never really get to know them.

I always thought that whole blog thing was just for megalomaniacs. Here things are about us and what we think, not just one person (as much as I'd like everything to be about me) most times people here don't even notice my posts.

Couldn't be more true. I've been here 9 years and I've gotten to know maybe 5 people. None of them have come from all the interesting debates that I've had along the way.
