Jurassic Park Replicas Coming From Paragon FX Group, plus! (UPDATED Post # 11)

Rylo I was wondering if you would be able to give some detail on what changed with the manufacturing process? I noticed the price is about double what CC was back when. Things cost what they cost but I was interested to know.

Hey gang. Just a quick note to say thank you for all the wonderful feedback regarding today's release.

We'll be providing additional updates through our mailer so feel free to sign up and stay in the loop!

Hi there,

The license alone, actually changes the manufacturing process. It dictates where and how an item is manufactured. Where it's sold, right down to how it's packaged.

Unlicensed replicas sold way back in my day (over 20 years ago) for 299.00! Unlicensed replicas are all over Ebay (for the time being) selling between 450 and 500.00+ regularly. So, I'm not really sure what's double the price or what this is being compared to? Regardless, I get the spirit of your question.

I believe a licensed, machined replica with the full support of the studio, modeled off an original, with a period correct, printed canister is pretty sweet for 399.00

All that said, I'm sure you appreciate that economically, we live in a different world than we did just a few years ago.
Eggs are 4 times more than they were...you get where I'm going. Metal, manufacturing, licensing, shipping, etc. Just a different time...

Hope I helped a little and thanks for asking.

Oh, and the website/Shopify is a little glitchy today. Thanks to those who mentioned it.
It does not appear to be affecting the reserve process, but it does have the pics behaving a little funky. They're on it. (y)

I was referring to the Chronicle Collectibles Cryo-Can because that was the one a lot of people had ordered. Their cost was about $200 so I assumed it was because of a lot of pre-covid things.

Also as far as retailers I was curious if you knew a timeline for say BBTS or Sideshow.

In looking at the pictures on the website I could not tell for sure if the cryo has a curved base. Does it? Either way I have reserved one.

Judging from this pic I'd say it looks like it does. If the base was flat we wouldn't be seeing concentric machining lines, it would be flat and polished.

Last year I bought the ruby slippers as a gift for my wife. I was very impressed.
As a huge JP fan I decided to pull the trigger on the cryo can. Really looking forward to this item.
I’m really liking this replica prop company. I think they are concentrating on the right things… quality, accurate pieces… not display cases and fancy docs and plaques.
Looking forward to the classic Battlestar line.

Definitely curved base— plus an additional attention to detail by making it have the print, finish, and weathering of an actual Barbasol can.

Looking at this, and comparing it to the 90s Barbasol can I have, the bottom concave shape is spot on. It really is a wonderful touch.

Please remember, these are prototypes you are seeing. For those who don't know, multiple passes are made on the way to production.

The only thing you should take from the above pics (from the last TikTok video) is the bottom of our replica is indeed concaved, just like a real shaving cream can. That video was to simply show the 'pop-up' mech. That's it.

Yes, the bottom looks a lot like a 90's era can. The original was cut off and haphazardly glued into place. We won't be attaching a sharp edged, glued on, doner can bottom with thin metal edges. BUT, our master has been designed with just that to properly illustrate exactly what the machined metal equivalent should look like. This helps to get everyone involved with production on the same page a bit better than a simple machine drawing. So much more efficient to hand over a physical copy and say, "It should look like this!"

I enjoy sharing how the sausage is made and will elaborate on more of that later.

In the end, these will ship as clean replicas. The happy owner may weather if they choose. (y)

So, expect a nice, clean, machined, concaved bottom.

NOTE: Different shapes (bottoms) were present on 90s era cans depending on where and when they were made. Some had batch numbers, some barely visible. Some not at all. The original can's bottom has more glue on it than anything else. We'll leave that off the replica. Also happy to add Barbosol was involved with and approved our graphic.

Aww, made me smile, man. That's really kind of you to say and means a lot.

I'm very fond of those, too. The Smithsonian has recently added our Ruby Slippers to their shops. We're pretty proud of that considering we took a great deal of inspiration from the original pair they have on display.

You've also touched on several other points I've been looking forward to discussing.

You're absolutely right, we're really focused on the replica and less concerned with the fluff. Sure, sometimes a piece just demands a stand or a display of some sort but more often than not, they can feel forced and out of place. Personally, I've pretty much always set the manufacturers displays to the side and placed my stuff in display cases.

There are plenty of different ways to be creative and take things in a different direction. For example. A tactical case for the 89 Grapnel seemed so much cooler to us than a generic plastic stand or the ubiquitous humidor.

On the other hand, our upcoming DUNE hunter seeker is a small prop that will otherwise roll around if not placed on a stand, so it gets one. This can be placed in a case, on a shelf, on the desk, whatever; it just makes sense to have one. We're also trying to be unique with our certificates where we can. The Creepshow cursed monkey paw has its certificate printed on the backside of the business card shown in the show. The 82 Creepshow ashtray has a certificate printed on the bottom.

Stands and displays drive up prices on the very item you're after. They make for bigger packaging which demands higher shipping, etc. and all that gets passed on to the collector. It's all part of the old formula really.

Again, we'll use them where they make sense but prefer to let people display as they choose. That said, we are looking into offering 'optional' displays where we find ourselves more 50-50 on if a given item needs one or not. You'll likely see some options that will be perfect for the Blade Runner Blasters, cryos, etc. down the road.

As for our product line. We're pretty pleased with the path we're on and regularly add to our licenses. We're in a constant state of production and have tons of goodies coming.

Oh, and let's talk about edition numbers real fast. When we offer a limited-edition item, we really mean it. One time. Done.

Bat Grapnels, Blade Runner, JP cane, cryos, etc...once they're gone, that's it.

Thanks again for the kind words and the opportunity to run on a bit.

Now you're making me want that, though.
Dewey Cox: "I think I kinda want it!"

I think you'll dig it. We're flattered so many people have jumped on board to reserve.

Really disappointed that shipping is not available to the UK, i am hoping this will change or that someone (reseller maybe) will offer the option.

My understanding is that this is an officially
Licensed product and that Paragon only have license to sell in the USA. I imagine a global license would cost them WAY more.
Look into shipping agents or freight forwarders?
I’ve used MyUS.com when a US seller doesn’t offer international shipping. You get a local US mailing address (preferably use a company in a state that doesn’t charge US Sales Tax). They receive the package, slap your international address on it and send it on. You end up paying extra shipping costs of course but in the broader scheme it can be worth it.
I’ve done it maybe half a dozen times - even done it for Amazon stuff that isn’t sold in Australia like the Echo Frames smart glasses.
