Jurassic Park Laboratory Egg Incubator

A quick project for the late evenings (when I'm not choking on fumes doing amber stuff during the day) is the Jurassic Park Laboratory Egg Incubator that the baby Raptors were hatched in. Yes, this is the one seen on the visitor tour where Grant and companions witness a Velociraptor hatching from its egg. This is to be a miniature of course (for now at least) and will stand approx 10 inches tall. It will also have a working lamp, eggs and removable lid.

Right now I'm just working out the measurements and cutting up the acrylic dome. I need to cut away the flange and at least 2 inches of the dome from the base up. This will make it about right looking at the original prop. I will add pics in the evenings as I work. :)

Update!

Just worked out that the eggs size will need to be 30 mm in length. I will cut out a little template to create the master egg.

Here's more progress on this project. I have cut out the discs I need to form many of the round parts. The dome is cut down to size and I've created a template for forming the egg. The egg will be sculpted from milliput. I need plant matter now of the correct type and scale to match what's used in the film. I'm not sure whether to use an LED or bulb for the lamp in the dome top? Any ideas? The light needs to 'fan' out, so it illuminates the whole nest area, but not give off too much heat. Also the power/batteries need to last a fair while.

The shape of the Incubator top edging is taking shape and I've found some plant material to use for the nest/egg bedding.
