Done / Completed Jumanji Board V2 - Animated Riddles @ PG.7 (11/10)

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

the top boards darker than the original first run.I think if the monkey and mountains were a bit more lighter brown and the actual varnish is a bit lighter brown the paint job would be a home run.If this is the final paint up it still looks fantastic I'm just still on the fence about the paint up as it stands to be honest.

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

Hi Mark... Maybe you should take a photo of V1 board alongside V2 board, in the same photo with the same lighting, exposure and camera settings, to get a better idea. I like the old and the new board. Not the best of paint jobs, but can be fixed up later to suit. It has always been a difficult issue, this painting stage. The monkey is cute still:p, although he does look dark in the photo. Maybe the actual item looks better than the photo is depicting (?). To me, it is basically acceptable because I don't really care if it is exactly the same as the movie prop...as long as it looks pretty respectable, which it does....obviously there is some room for improvement and some additional shading etc.. but like before, you have to 'draw the line' sometime.
Not on the list to buy one (yet)... but maybe one day.:rolleyes

Hi Mike,

this is the final paint, I will PM everyone soon for a non-refundable deposit & you need to let me know if you'll like a painted or un-painted board.

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

Markpoon, just a little question here: in a sales thread of a V1 board in the junkyard (http://www.therpf.com/f13/jumanji-game-box-markpoon-1st-run-214574/), people mention that some of your first boards start "bending" over time, so the top lids don't close anymore like they should. I have two boards, and one of it starts doing the same. I consider this a serious "defect" of the board that only appeared after a while, on boards that are kept at (at least) 4 different places. My board was always stored at room temperature in normal humidity conditons. My first conclusion is that the problem occured because the wood used was not completey drie yet.

Is this issue someting that is tackled with this new run of boards? These cost almost 3 times the price of the 1st run. I was seriously considering buying one, but decided not to due to the paintjob, but if I had decided to buy one after all, I would be really p*ssed off if this expensive board would start "warping" "bending" after a few months. So I thought I mention this here, so potential buyers are completely informed...

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

I heard the same from another v1 owner .
I asked Mark and he explained about the wood and the humid conditions.
I am under the assumption that these boards may be the same case???
I can't afford it ATM so I apologise for the inconvenience Mark.
Please remove me from the list .

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

Hi TomVDJ,

These boards were constructed here in asia & its hot & humid all year round. I have asked my cnc guy & according to him, the wood he used is completely dry, my board has not changed one bit so its probably due to the difference in humidity condition where the boards are kept or displayed. perhaps you should bring your board to your local work-craft store to see if they can adjust the wood hinge?

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

One would expect these type of boxes (with the small timber & pinned hinges of the type used) will have a little movement in their lids over time and from handling. The timber is likely a seasoned timber from what I can see, so I would expect only little or no warping of the overall panels, provided the Jumanji Box is kept in a timber friendly environment. If stored...as with any timber product of this type...store it properly and in a manner that does not put any strain on it....e.g. kept flat for example. If you are really picky and cannot accept a small amount of timber movement/warping from this type of construction, then this product is likely not for you.
My Jumanji Board by Markpoon (Version 1) was purchased 9 months ago. It had an initial lid misalignment from how it was originally manufactured, which I fixed up easily and immediately. Has been kept in my bed room for 9 months and it has not warped or shown any other timber movement problem all that time.:cool

Re: Jumanji Board V2 - PAINTED SAMPLE @ PG.2 (05/23)

Just for the record, mine is still perfectly aligned, living in a (super) humid location, aka an island.

One of mine is also still perfect, the other one warped... Both kept next to each other, so in the exact same conditions, in the exact same position. It's a bit of a lottory it seems. Marsattack heard the same from another V1 owner, so with that one added, it's already 5 boards which have this from the initial run.

Maybe the problem is that the humidity here is just too dry? If they are produced in a hot and humid environment, I can imagine that bringing them to a "normal" temperature and humidity could cause this. Anyway, I'll see if I can fix it myself. A bit disappointed that this happened with one of my boards, though... :(
