Julien’s Upcoming Hero Phaser & Communicator Auction

This is a comparison of the TMOST thumbwheel with the thumbwheel of the "Assignment: Earth" P1 (with the watch crown). These appear to be two different P1's so I am of the persuasion that this "Assignment: Earth" P1 is NOT the TMOST as previously believed but instead is the Conscience / Lenore / Riley which we know is the only other P1 with a watch crown. You can clearly see the "Assignment: Earth" P1 thumbwheel has the silver paint rubbed off at the front of the thumbwheel while the TMOST is painted. The TMOST still to this day has the similar pattern on the thumbwheel so it was not rubbed off between episodes. Also, the flip up sight looks a little different (lower in the shell) than the TMOST and the cutout for the thumbwheel looks a little smaller (tighter on the back side) on the "Assignment: Earth" P1 comparted to the TMOST but that could be an illusion from the camera angle. These scratch marks on the thumbwheels are like fingerprints and is instrumental in helping identify the P1's

I do not recall seeing your list "established" on the TPZ. Doesn't mean that it was not agreed to prior to my joining. However I do not recall seeing a post on this. In fact Steve (Piolo?) was posting questions about the Hero P1s after Mobius303 reported on the "Lost" Hero P1 that the unknown "Collectors" told him about...
 
I recognize that everyone likes what they like. And I also recognize that everyone gets tired of rehashing the same old thing.
However - I would point out that I posted high resolution photos of the "highly detailed dummy" P2 that Kirk held in "Devil in the Dark", on the TPZ, that clearly showed there was a space behind the P2 sight window! I had been told prior to posting these photos - NO ITS BEEN WELL ESTABLISHED - there was no space behind the "Midgrade" P2 sight windows...

And several members had strokes after I posted high rez photos of Tracy's P2 that clearly showed shells...

So it has nothing to do with a new phaser being presented - it has everything to do with seeing something different and asking questions.

For example I find it fascinating that many on this forum hold to the notion that WMC Hero P1s were not swapped between WMC Hero P2s. When the photographic evidence suggests otherwise...

This may be a case of the "old guard" not wanting to help the many forgers out there make better forgeries - as was the case on the "phaser board" and the TPZ. I understand that. However sooner or later, just as in the case of the "Finney" P2 - the "Riley/Lenore" P2 will be auctioned by the family of the original collector as will the "Unknown" P2 and then the Hero P2 forgers will be out of business...

One of the reasons I post my observations and questions on the prominent threads like this one is because many of the TPZ members who made/make P2 and P1 props - post on these threads and I can often obtain answers to my questions/observations.

It was my understanding that the Hero P1 thumb wheels were painted brass.

I will compare the painted thumb wheel of the TMOST P1 filmed in "Assignment Earth" with the TMOST P1 currently up for auction to see if the wearing of the paint matches.

However I do not think my theory of the WMC Nona P1 having a watch crown or a bezel under the original blue jewel that was stripped off during use and then replaced by the Desilu Effects Department with a red jewel only is really that outrageous...

When I brought up it was because of the recent hero being revealed I was stating that people are revisiting and questioning what we once thought we knew.

The WMC P1 & P2's might have been swapped during filming for various reasons, yet it's clear when they were initially done, they were paired up, we can tell this by how they seat in the cradles.

It's hard to say the motivations, I personally look at it from the perspective of WMC and would build the P1's matched to specific P2's it establishes them in pairs so they look best when used together.

For me I look at it from the perspective of the logic of why they were built as they were.

Case in point I have my third 3D printed hero phaser at I decided to paint the handle, but this time I mixed up a relatively random color using a white base and some 30 year old metallics for pigments and I ended up with a light bronze metallic looking color, although I wasn't aiming for a color remotely near that.... I will post pics later...

I find most simply want to learn

The thumb wheels were indeed painted.

Your theory regarding the watch crown/jewel replacement could very well have happened. I just keep asking is it likely and that's the $100 question
 
Has anyone been to view the phaser while it’s on display at the San Diego Comic-Con Museum?
 
Anyone here in So Cal? Although entry to SDCC also gets you free museum admission, anyone may visit. It’s located in Balboa Park near the San Diego Zoo. Admission $25 (online tickets, timed admission.) The exhibit is running until the auction.

If the Nona P1 ever had anything other than the red jewel it happened in the first 3 episodes after the Wah phasers were delivered since we see it in "The Galileo Seven" with the red jewel. I think it's more likely that Wah had two watch crowns left over from the tricorders and used them on the two P1 phasers (The TMOST and Conscience) and then used the red jewel (on the Nona) because it was laying around and finally, the GJ got nothing because Wah had no more trinkets laying around. I can only judge on what we see on screen and honestly, for me, the theory of the red jewel replacing an unseen watch crown is reaching. It's more likely he used what he had until he ran out of stuff, hence the GJ P1 with nothing. The watch crowns seemed to be securely attached since they remained throughout the series to the best of our knowledge and the fact that it is still on the TMOST. Just my opinion of course.

This. Remember, the tricorders and communicators were built before the phasers were refurbished, and the refurbishment specifically tried to tie all three prop designs together.

That's why the side rails were added to the P1--to echo the communicators' midplates. And why the watch crowns were added--to echo the tricorders' watch crowns.

Wah clearly just ran out of parts when dressing up the phasers. Note that the Lenore and the Finney--the heroes which got the most screentime, early on--were the ones with watch crowns.

The other two heroes were apparently deemed less important, and got skipped over in terms of that detail. If there were only two watch crowns left in Wah's parts box, the primary heroes were obviously the ones deemed worthy of getting them.
