Julien’s Upcoming Hero Phaser & Communicator Auction

Actually even that's a reproduction....

hese are the name I have been using while documenting them myself:

01 - Conscience / Lenore / Riley
02 - Greg Jein
03 - TMOST / Finney
04 - Nona
On the TPZ - the P2 that the "Nona" P1 was filmed-in was referred to as the "Unknown" P2:

Phaser2-Kious.jpg

You can see the only cylindrical emitter on the Unknown P2.
Note: How the back-top of the "Nona" P1 slopes down to the rear deck of the Unknown P2 - as if the Desilu prop makers were trying to meet Roddenberry's requirement for a pistol that looked like a single weapon.

02 - Greg Jein (But which episodes/characters used it?)
Chrisisall, I was one of the few members of the TPZ that did not agree the notion that the Greg Jein was filmed in "Shore Leave".
(I think it was the "Finney" P2 with the Lost P1 that was the twin of the TMOST P1 for carry that was filmed in "Shore Leave". I have posted on this before.)
However the Greg Jein was filmed in the "Red Shirt's" hand in "Charlie X": (Note: I think the "Lost" P1 is shown in the GJ P2):

Greg Jein (as B&W) in Charlie X.png

FYI: I call the 4th Hero P1 (that the Desilu Inventory clearly lists) with Velcro for carring on the gold pistol belt the "Lost" P1 because this is the name "Mobius303" reported to the group on the TPZ. (If I can find his post that talks about "the collectors" I will post it.)

That was my thinking as well. I could name the GJ the Greg Jein / Shore Leave but I did not. The Nona P2 is named that because the P2 has the Nona P1 and the only episode I have been able to find it in is the Galileo Seven and in an outtake photo so it is pretty elusive.
I think you can see the "Unknown" P2 with the "Greg Jein" P1* as a B&W P2 in episodes" 5 ("The Enemy Within") and 6 ("The Man Trap").

I apologize for not having a high rez cap of this image. The cylindrical emitter is the key to tracking the "Unknown" P2.
* I think the "Unknown" P2 in Kirk's hand has the GJ P1 with Velcro because the "Finney" P2 in Spock's hand has the thicker "Lost" P1 with Velcro. You can clearly see there are two Hero P1s with Velcro for carrying two Hero P2s on the gold pistol belts in "The Man Trap". See my previous post in this thread.

It is the Cylindrical emitter you can see in the "Red Alert" P2 that Kirk tries to disarm from "Overload" in "Conscience of the King" before dumping it into the "disposal" shaft. Also Latimer pulls the "Unknown" P2 from the weapons locker in "Galileo 7" - you can see the shadow of the Cylindrical emitter on the gold pistol belt in his hand.

Hypothetical:

*The Lenore was filmed first because it was finished first.

*The TMOST became the default King Hero used for closeups, since it was the best-looking of the four.

*The Unknown P2 was deemed the least presentable/functional of the four heroes, and so got the least use. Its P1--the Nona--was used for the show's occasional location shooting because it was deemed the most expendable.

The Shore Leave hero has velcro, no jewel and has the painted P1 rail; not sure what else it could be except the GJ. I am pretty sure it is also the phaser in the red alert light in Kirks cabin in "Conscience of the King" since it too has the painted side rail on the P1. Will post pictures when I get home.

I will be calling the "Unknown P2 Phaser" the Nona because it sounds better and it is shorter to type, lol

What about the "Unknona"?

Roger That - I look forward to your effort to tag each episode the Hero P2s and P1s were in. I tried to do that several years ago.

Also to help me when I studied the Black and White (B&W) Hero P2s in "The Man Trap" and in "The Enemy Within" (for my project) - I named each B&W Hero P2 after the character that held the Hero P2 first:
TPZ P2 B&W P2 Notes
Greg Jein = Sulu (1)
Unknown = Kirk (2)
Finney = Spock (3)
Riley = Scot (4)
(1) - - episode 5, "The Enemy Within" (the Greg Jein was again filmed in the "Red Shirt's" hand in episode 8, "Charlie X".)
(2) - - episode 5, "The Enemy Within" and the same in episode 6, "The Man Trap"
(3) - - episode 5, "The Enemy Within" and the same in episode 6, "The Man Trap"
(4) - - episode 6, "The Man Trap" and episode 7, "The Naked Time".
Note: My naming the "Riley/Lenore" P2 when it was a B&W the "Scot" P2 was a compromise because Scotty did not hold the "Riley/Lenore" he wore it in episode 7, "The Naked Time" on his gold belt, just as Kirk did in episode 6, "The Man Trap".

Kirk (IMO) dropped the Greg Jein off his gold belt in the ruin scenes or during the first combat scene in "The Man Trap"... You can clearly see Kirk with his hand hovering over his hanging P2 later in the combat scenes. He did not do this after beam down or when he ran out of the building when he heard the monster "Nancy" scream. And you will notice the orientation/angle of the P2 hanging on the gold belt changed from almost vertical initially, after beam down, to a 45 degree angle, later, to ensure more Velcro hooks on the P1 were engaged with the loops on the belt...
PS - I think all 4 Hero P2s were filmed in "The Man Trap".

I have hesitated to rename them because these names have been attached to some of them for decades. I am in the process of completing a document that identifies them (where possible), the dates they were filmed and the unique features of each.
I see your point - and just realized I stepped out of my season one B&W Hero tables when I started putting in the episodes in which the WMC Hero P2s and P1s were filmed... D*@#!

Once again I have to thank feek61! Thank You feek61!

Captain D provided me a good shot of the P1 on the Finney (IMO) P2 in "Shore Leave" the last time we discussed this. You can see the rear of the Hero P1 in question is thicker/taller in the rear than the Hero Jein P1 on the GJ P2:
Shore Leave P2-P1-z.png

This Hero P1 with Velcro on the left side is not in-my-opinion (IMO) the Jein P1.
The Desilu "Inventory List" reflects there were four (4) Hero Phaser Unit # 2s (P2) and four (4) Hero Phaser Unit # 1s (P1) - WMC would have painted a white line on the Velcro of the Lost P1 just as he did for the Jein P1...

Does anyone have a high rez image of the following scene in "The Man Trap" where IMO there are two Hero P2s hanging on gold belts in the same scene?:
Kirks Hero P2 in same shot as Spocks.png

Two Hero P2s hanging on gold belts implies two Hero P1s with Velcro on the left side.

Also if you look closely at the front view of the P2 Kirk holds in "Shore Leave" - you can see the nozzle is too high to be the GJ P2:
Shoreleave P2 is NOT the GJ.png

Feek61, what about two letter acronyms for the Hero P2s and 4 letter acronyms for the Hero P1s?

UK = Unknown P2
FN = Finney P2
GJ = Greg Jein P2
RL = Riley/Lenore P2

and since we are all using TMOST for the Hero P1 currently on the Finney P2, why not continue it with:

NONA = The Hero P1 held by the character "Nona" in "A Private Little War"
MOST = The Hero P1 photographed in the book "The Making of Star Trek" which is on the FN P2 currently ready to be auctioned...
JEIN = The Hero P1 with Velcro that ended up on Gren Jein's P2
LOST = The Hero P1 with Velcro that looked like the Jein P1 except it was thicker - more like the MOST...

as long as you have a "Legend" that defines your acronyms/names or numbers there should be no problem.
