Joker 2. Folie a Deux

I think the musical take is an interesting one if true. I didn't think the first movie was all that great but applaud it for trying to be something more than the bog-standard fair. I think the second will be more the same; good ideas, but flawed execution.

The reports of this being a musical is based entirely on the fact that there is a rumour that Lady Gaga is involved and because she did a movie/musical with Bradley Cooper who was a producer of the Joker and did a musical with Lady Gaga...........

Having said that, I am kind of open to the idea. I have my issues with Gaga but she is an A Grade talent. The fascinating and "unknown" aspect of the musical take would be the Phoenix performance. I mean...wow. My whole thing with wanting another movie was to see a med free and unleashed Arthur blossom into Joker. If this is interpreted in song or songs, I can still dig that. I have great faith in what Phillips created and how he carries it forward.

Margot Robbie addresses Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn in Joker sequel

Yeah yeah yeah, one vacuous stooge endorses another vacuous stooge to play a character but the only reason I post this is to update the timeline of a significant follow up to a tremendous piece of cinema that was Joker. I am still open to a "musical" but still have doubts that Phillips would sacrifice the great opportunity here to go down that path.
Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn?

It's going to be a musical.

They can make this movie, but they cannot make the character feel like the same guy.

The guy in the first movie wasn't very competent in general. He lacked education/knowledge. He lacked the raw I.Q. points for a criminal mastermind.

He was more sympathetic than the standard Joker bcause he wasn't capable of becoming the standard Joker. The filmmakers made that trade last time.

The thing with the first movie was to show us the world of a lifelong medicated Arthur and a 25 minute glimpse of the chaos achieved by an unmedicated Arthur. I dont think this Joker needs to be a high I.Q. mastermind criminal, just a prism for chaos. The way he orchestrated the meeting with Thomas Wayne displayed how creative he can be. The prospect of seeing Phoenix totally indulge in that skin is what excites me about the project.
