Jeffersonian lab coat patch artwork.

The design of the patches on their lab coats is very different from the logo used on the ID/access cards. Doesn't look like embroidery, yet. I need to research methods for doing embroidery FX in Photoshop. I can send the PSD with all the separate layers if someone wants to do something with this to make it better. Also needs a black embroidered border around the black rectangle at the bottom.

I couldn't pin down the font used. It almost looks like a serif font, missing most of the serifs. I gave up trying to find something like that and went with a font that had the angled sides on the M and a medium amount of hook on the J.

One alteration I had to do was adjust the position of the horizontal foot. All the free versions I could find of Vitruvian Man had it perfectly horizontal, with the circle crossing it. A little bit of selection, clipping rotating and filling in the line gap fixed that. :)

I'm planning to print this on opaque color laser transfer then heat press it onto some coarse fabric. Sure, I could just buy an embroidered patch off eBay, but where's the fun in that? ;)

I have a white lab coat. Don't know if I want to try dying it Dr. Blue or Intern Grey/Tan. There seems to be a bit of variation in the intern coat colors from nearly white to a light gray and sometimes light khaki. 'Course going by all the grunge and goo the "Bones" characters get on them, that could be chalked up to the Jeffersonian laundry service not being able to get all the stains out, or from being washed along with other colored items.

The only person I know with a computer embroidery machine is over 470 miles away and won't get off his arse and get it repaired. Sooo, I'll have to come up with some other solution to putting my first initial and last name on the coat. Should check with the quilt shop down the street, see if they do embroidery.
