Jason's (Unfated) Han in Carbonite build.

I know we really don't need another HIC build here, but this is a good place to keep up on my build.
More for myself I guess.

Han:
VaderCoke since KingJawa is no longer making them. Ordered and will receive in a few days.

Side Panels:
I'm 3D printing these using files from thingiverse.com produced by board member Flimsy.
These are great files! Volvo carbonate panel by crissy

Greeblies: I'll be 3D printing these as well. Also files from Flimsy.

Electronics:
I ordered from Jon at Home - Fettronics Star Wars Boba Fett Mando Mandolorian Costume Custom Light Boards.

Box:
Not sure yet. I'll most likely be making this myself. I wanted to grab a Zenix box, but my 3D panels won't
line up with his box cut outs.

I'm starting with the Volvo side panels. I could not really afford to buy a set, So I decided to print my own.
This will help defer some of the costs of this build. They will end up costing about $10 each (give or take).
So far I've printed only 3. They take forever!

Printed, glued together, sanded and fist primer coat.

More sanding and the last primer coat.

Lastly the final top coat of paint.

As you can see there are still some print lines I was not able to get out. I guess with more filler and sanding
I could have eventually gotten out the print lines, but I just don't have that kind of patients.
Once I've printed, and painted them all I'll choose the nicest for my hero panel, and install the electronic in that one.

Unfated I'm just starting my build as well ! I recently got my Han ( ebay not a great cast, but it was cheap & I can clean it up) I am also planning on 3d printing my volvo panels & greebles. I'm gonna have my box CNCd in the next few days based on the plans that have been floating around here ( and the .dxf file thats posted on the HIC yahoo site) - your 3d prints look nice! are you hand sanding ?

Hand sanding, filler primer, then sanding again. Repeat till you get the results you want or you are tired of sanding. Are you
using the same files I'm using? They are pretty nice.

yes, so far I printed one from Crissy's 3d Collection & I also tried one from April storm. I want to double check fitment after I cut my box. & then I will print the rest. That 3d collection that Crissy put together looks amazing - I imagine it will be quite helpful

The Fettronics electrics kit for the hero panel came in the post yesterday.
A couple of issues. It does not have accurate knobs, and had no option for battery power,
but those are small things for how great the kit is. I'm not completely sure how I'm going to
mount the knobs. They are very had to turn and I'm worried if I just drill and glue them in
they will come loose when turning.

Almost finished with the hero panel. Still need the handles and to box the back of the grid screen.
I'm not 100% happy with the panel. I think maybe I should have saved up some money and bought
Volvo panels. I could be too picky, but the 3D printed panels just aren't quite perfect enough.

I don't see anything wrong with your panel offhand. Installing the white acrylic as seen below would help improve the look.

Dammit!!! I thought it looked wrong some how. I can not believe I missed the back panel as white. Even with all my reference shots I still missed
that detail. I thought it was aluminum like the others. Everything is all glued in place, I'm not sure I can change it now without messing everything up.

Might be able to push it out or pry it off from the back where no one will see.
Also the panel backs were not painted aluminum; they just used real aluminum. The caveat being panel 2 where the lights are.

Painted aluminum vs real aluminum is not really an issue for me. My real issue is I wish I had real Volvo panels,
but they are not ver cost effective and even the cast ones are a bit much and not always the best looking. I also need the decals. I cut the decals out of vinyl, but the lettering was too big with the files I used.

Zenix makes a good set of panels that are cast from an original and look good. I haven't found any real Volvo panels yet, but yeah they'll be expensive. Cheaper to get casts.
Bigturc makes a set of decals that look good if you need a set.

Alright hero panel complete! I wish I would have realized the background was white on this one instead of aluminum,
but I was too far to change it. Well, without really wrecking the thing. I'll have to live with it. I printed the decals out of
vinyl on my Cricut and attached the handles. I used Fettronics for the electronics and I'm pretty happy with them.
Overall I'm pleased with the panel.

Panel #2 complete except for the u-clips. I ordered metal ones from Zenix. They will be shipped out tomorrow.

Nice job! how is the box coming? When I did my HIC I made my own box and was really happy I went that route.

I have not started the box yet. I downloaded the pdf files for the box, but needed to edit the panel opening to work the
the 3D printed panels I'm using. I opened them in Adobe Illustrator and did all the fixing, but can't seem to find
anyone in my area to cut them. I've contacted a few companies that have CNC routers for quotes, but they don't
want work with the file formats I'm using. They want DXF but it changes the sizes every time I save them to DXF.

Gotcha man. I do random woodwork (not a pro by any means) and was able to cut and construct the box. Though the time I put into it was pretty significant from what I remember. Just used a table saw and a router. Best of luck! Those panels look great!

There are NEVER too many HIC builds! Watching with great interest. Your panels look great!
