Jaffa Staff detail pics?

Me and one of my friends had kicked around the idea of putting one cheap $40 "flashlight" style stun guns in there for the crackle. It'd be white/blue, but it'd be arcing lighting.

It'd also be too dangerous to take anywhere ... although it could be used for crowd control at cons.

I have the Jaffa serpent armor. I've never gotten a staff weapon, though. Some years back, I was taken for $400 by someone who started a run but never finished them. It's always been a sore point for this prop for me, but I'm over it now. I'd love to see this costume finally finished by adding the staff weapon to it.

Hey, did you win this on the stargate legacy auction, cause if ya did you out bid me! :)

Awesome project gentlemen. I'll be watching this with great interest :thumbsup

Nooo I lost my job well before they listed it :p

Although if I had any idea that it was going to sell in the $800 range I would have sold a body part or two to buy it. That was a steal, and I think it only sold for that price because Stargate Legacy had 0 feedback at the time, and not everyone knew who they were.

Did you see that after this one sold for under $900 (I forget the exact amount), a week or two later Profiles in History sold one for $15,000? Talk about a price discrepancy! And the Profiles one wasn't even a functional prop.

I just went back and watched the part of the pilot were jack demenstrates how the staff works, the function of the SG1 staff is different then the '94 movie staff.
I think I'll go movie version or a hybrid of the two.

seriously! I dident even know that profiles sold on a week later, and for 15,000, wow, I was kicking myself that I couldent get that one for $900, talk about cheap!!!

I'm following with interest. Angie at Legends never got back with me about getting atleast a static repo Staff before they lost their license on 12/31.

I've made 2 attempts at the mechanism and failed due to limitations of my little Smithy 3-in-1 machine. I've got a production used/damaged closed firing head from one of the Legends auctions I can pull dimensions/details from if needed too for for doing an accurate series staff firing head

Sweet, the dimensions on your legens prop will definetly help when someone starts to work on one, i'd rather have a replica as close as possible, and I think there different than the one's I posted from the legends replica

I think it's the same basic mechanism of parallel hinges for each section of the cover it's just that the movie version was allowed to open fully wheras the SG1 version only pops out a little before it's restricted.

The more the hinges open the more the covers move backwards relative to the shaft.

Here's the movie head

The movie version also seems to have these fins on the inside shaft, I dont think there on the TV show one's, I might be mistaken though

Similar to cheech9898 I have a closed static staff weapon head piece. I posted some dimensions and photos over on the jaffalegions.com . There seems to be someone working on one over there. I will post up and see how the its going. Either way no matter who does one, put me on the list. I will try get pics i had back up.
Hope these are of some help

1 is the length from tip to the end of the 'shell' = 35 1/2 cm

2 is the middle section of the 'shell' before it curves = 13 cm

3 is the width between the 'electronics section' and the 'shell' = 3 1/2 cm

4 is the length of the electronic section to the end of the 'shell' = 8 cm

5 is the width of the head at the widest point = 10 cm

The circumference if you could call it that, of the head at the widest point is 20 1/2 cm and the height of the staff head from a side of view is 6 cm

The length of the centre line from the tip to the 'electronics section' begins and the shell ends in the centre (i.e where 3 is) = 28 1/4 cm
