Its a Star Wars October . . .

Well, it will break down into sections so that it can be moved, but I know what you are thinking lol.

I have a pretty small little corner in my basement that I want this to sit, so I am taking some liberties with he design. I am using Stinson's renderings as reference and concept, but I am customizing it to fit in the corner I have.

Now, all that being said, once I have this bad boy built I may be able to offer the Full Size Project a bench :) if someone has not already taken it upon themselves.

Now that we have the angle work figured out. It's a little rough on the cuts, but the "Master" (my dad) is in town this week so I'm in good hands to have this puppy looking sweet by the weekend. lol, I'm at work and he's back at the shop as we speak working away!

Hey Fuzz,

You know I was only kidding - this DEF belongs in the Man Cave! Great to hear your dad is in town. Say Hello to him for me. Then give the man a beer and put him back to work! ;)

No one has taken any steps forward with part of the build so... it's all you!

My question: What are you going to use for the cushions?

We are going to be using the foam floor matting that you see sold for shop floors or gym floors. Basically EVA foam that a lot of folks are using for armor builds and such.

We did a little test cutting and glueing the foam into the lumber using contact cement, worked like a charm.

I bought the floor covering from Harbor Frieght, $10 per 4-pack so not too bad. We picked up the grey color type, not sure if I'm going to paint it or not. This is another one of those "make it up as we go" type builds.

But again, thank god for my pops being here to help. The man is just a genius when it comes to fabrication. There is no way I would have a chance to get this finished-ish without him helping out this week.

Dude, you are doing more work for some Halloween decor than I've ever put into my day to day life. Where do you find the energy?! Looking so cool.

I've considered using the same thing for the padding around the door frame. Are you concerned about tearing? Unlike a basic seat where people simply plop down then get up, wont people be be dragging their bodies "across" the padding from side to side? I'm using the same padding in the garage (placing objects on top) and although tough on the surface, the edges tear / rip very easily.

Not trying to be a Donnie Downer, I'm really interested how this all plays out. :)

Thanks man, its kind of what we do around here, LOL. I am cheating a little bit though, Halloween is just the excuse to build more things to go into my "man's cave" but this way I can put the wife to work on it as well :)

Thanks for looking!

I certainly am worried about that, and we talked about that a bit. If this was going to be sat in a ton, and used everyday, shoot even a few times a month I would probably go a different route.

There was another bench build that Phillip Wise posted a while back and they used car vinyl and wrapped pieces individually, it was outstanding. However I just don't have that much time. But it certainly is probably a more durable way to go.

I think my piece we'll see a fair amount of traffic over time, but I am hoping this will hold up to the minimal use it will probably get. It's most likely going to be a "show piece."

Now all that being said, there is certainly a chance we are doing all this work just for this party and then we'll have to strip it and do it again with different material. I guess we'll see:)

I went out to my shop and packed a box today. That is all I had time to do.

You are a friggin machine! Can't wait to see the completed product.

Thank you my friend, getting energy together hasn't been easy. But the push for Saturday is on so . . . :)

Love it, looking good!

Thank you my friend.

OH YES! Are you going to include the upper couch panels as well? Please say yes!!! ;)

I know I've asked this before... Is you father for rent?

Hi everyone, the last several days leading up to last nights event was crazy so I didn't have time to post any photos. So here it is in a mad rush. Thank you all for viewing. And a HUGE thank you to my dad. There is no way I could have done this alone, he truly is "The Master!'

Hope you enjoy, it was a great time!

Now we skip to install. Obviously there is a good amount of work yet to do on this before I would call it "finished." We have a lot of detail work, as well as the bench padding and final paint, but given this was only a week worth of work I would say it is plenty awesome!
