Is this the right Panther kit?

I was thinking about building a thermal detonator. Is this the right Panther kit for the tank tread.
I also understand some of these parts were used for the jedi remote (Parts of Star Wars site) Thanks,

The original was the 1/48 scale Panther G from Bandai. I haven't seen the Tamiya one so I can't comment on whether it would also work.

Yeah, I would be wary of the new Tamiya 1/48th stuff. They have been going out of their way to get more detail packed into this new line. This is one of Mr. Tamiya's pet projects, so they are really trying to make them superdetailed - waaay moreso than anything in the 70's. And having built a few of them, I can attest to the quality. So, while the subject matter may be the same and the size may be close, the details might be off. And, the devil is in the details. Still if close enough is OK (and you like the added detail), go for it. Some of the Bandai/Fuman stuff is getting pricey.
