Sorry guys.

I've put this project under scrap already, due to some issues. So I prefer to stop using the cardboard.

Now I'm start using the eva foam. Much more easier, faster and safe. :D

After 1 year been hold the first project and I'll scrap it, I'm going to build another 1 by another material, much more easier, and more faster... EVA Foam.

Today I've completed the helmet.

looking good bro ! can i ask a few questions ?

1. where did you get the foam ? and how much ?
2. how did you seal the foam ? or you just putty over it ?

p/s: from Malaysia also :)

I've been wanting to do this, and curious about the result.
You put putty over the foam, how is it?
will it crack? How thick did you put?

Thanks Izam.

hi,

I just put a very tick layer.
but for the joint area, seems like a problem to me.
It will crack. Unless I'll use another method to hold the joint area.

currently I'm not using the hot glue. because it no so good enough.
I'm using this glue ->

very clean joint. even you cannot see the joint area :p

I am more puzzled now.
So if you use that glue, a thick layer putty won't crack?
In the big area (not the join) it is also a chance that the putty will crack because the foam is somewhat flexible.

I haven't seen the glue before, can you tell us more about it?
Would that be a rubber-based glue? (white color, smell awful?)
How fast it dries?

I was thinking about using a bit more of glue gun, and let the excess become the guide on how thick the putty will be.

those are Contact Glue . if im not mistaken, what he said is, he didnt seal it and just put putty over it in thin layers but having problems at corners/joints.

1. a thin layer over a broad foam surface, will that strong enough to avoid crack?
2.Contact glue, how long does it cure? i am not familiar with contact glue, so will it be solid after cure?

Thank you so much for the info man.

i dont know about the first one. based on my experience putty just wont stick to foam alone without any seal. it just crack and chipped off when its getting heavier/thicker or even when you tried to sand it a lil bit harder.

contact glue cures within 3-5 minutes. you apply on side A and B .. do not put it together yet. just leave it for the contact glue to dry and when its dry, attach both side A and B together. it will stick right away. it might sounds weird to who nvr use it before. i know i did when i first know about it .. haha
