That's a very great news !!!! Will follow it closely...

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

ANd here you can see the pics of the 3-pieces helmet.
I'm about done today.
I'll leave two days and Monday I will prime the pieces to see if they're REALLY good to go. Then, if everything is fine, I'll prepare them for molding ;)

here's a quick shot:

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Guys, just a reminder. I've received an email notification saying I had a new post in this thread. I read it and it was from a user who asked stuff like: "how much?" "when available"? I do want to point out that these kind of questions are not to be asked here. There's a thread in the JUNKYARD for these questions or you can contact me by pm. ;)

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Just a quick question guys. When you use brushes, do you save them or use a new one everytime? It looks to me like it's quite impossible to save them, unless you don't free the tip and leave the rest kinda stiff ;)
Thanks.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

hmm you should show us more pics of each of the molds :)
im always kinda confused about molding the back piece and the main part of the helmet,
looks awesome tho! amazing work as always.

The silicone process looks like it is coming along really nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. When I did my mould for my AOT mask I had to use a new brush for each coat because the brush got so stiff, I couldn't use it anymore. I purchase small throw away brushes from a business off the internet for a really good price.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

I'm gonna make a video about the molding of the helmet. But it will come out in the next weeks ;)

Anyways, the big thing I've learned is: "registration keys" and, give your rubber enough "escape" space, otherwise it'll be loose at the corners when sitting in the FG or Plasti-paste armor.

The main part needs to be closed anyways. So if you take the faceplate off, just cover the hole with paper, clay or whatever is good for you ;)

Also, put some clay or paper right where every part of the helmet ends. This way, your rubber will cover the entire surface of the helmet and of the paper. This will give you more "resting" surface for the rubber inside its armor.

I know it's complicated in english...sorry...
But if you look at this pic, you should understand what I'm saying:

The same I did for the faceplate you need to do for anything you want to mold except things that have a single FLAT surface ;)

Doing really well for this mould. I used some "registration keys" for my mask also and pretty much did the same thing you are doing and has made it easier when I make numerous runs.

Above is the helmet done with CNC and made from the original CG files of the movie.
Below is mine.

Sorry for this stupid post, but it freaks me out to see that, without computer or sculpting skills, my helmet just looks like the original ONE! So HAPPY! :D
Gemini Khan awesome build thread bra!!! I like what ya done with this helmet!!! I'll definitely checkout. Ya vblog.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

You rock! The helmet is awesome. I have my copy on my desk and everyone loves it.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

thanks guys...too bad I'm encountering TOO MANY problems with my 3-pieces...things are not going as I thought they would go. I'm one try away to call it quit... :(

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Maybe ya need a break from it for a while, do something else. Then come back to it with a fresh perspective. You've put a lot of work into it don't give up now. Would we have cars if Henry Ford gave up on th' model T automobile? Or th' assembly line for manufacturing them? There's my 2 cents.

Re: Iron Man Helmet Sintra V2.0 (V 1.0 lays in ruins)

Nah, my gotta-be-perfect-otherwise-i'm-not-gonna-be-happy attitude told me that I need to work on the master again and make new molds. So, in order to get the money back, I'm selling these, which I won't be using anymore ;)

Thanks for your words anyway!
