Iron Man movie costume at CTIA Wireless Tradeshow

I was at the CTIA Wireless tradeshow and conference in Las Vegas today and I saw at the LG booth what the LG people said was one of the actual Ironman armor costumes from the movie. I took some photos with my crappy cell phone and here they are below.

It looked like the suit was worn since there were several cracked or broken parts near the edges where it would be articulated. I looked closely at the armor for about 10 minutes and it certainly looked like it could be worn. If someone else is going to the show, please take a better camera and get some better photos. You can see some missing chips in the Ironman3 photo closeup of the arm at the wrist joint. There were some others at the ankle just above the front top of the foot/boot. There were some other deep scratches and gouges too which they didn't bother to fix (they said it was left in to make it look more realistic :confused).

The eyes and chest were also lit up but you can't tell from the powerful spotlight showcasing the manequin and armor.

Wow ! Nice ! Thanks for the pics even if they are a bit off. Where was this thing when guys like me and TMP were out scouring the net looking and begging for photos so we could try to build the dam thing !:rolleyes:lol

I didn't touch it but a guy who doesn't know how to keep his hands to himself did--repeatedly while I was there and it was plastic or fiberglass sounding. He did it until the LG people shooed him away with a stern warning not to touch it!

Now, just to clarify, I don't KNOW it was used for the movie, but the LG people there (who probably don't know a prop if it fell on them, but they do have cool phones), said it was used in the movie. From what I could tell, it certainly looked USED and it looked like it could be worn by an actor who is intended to move in it. Now I wish I took more close-up photos since they turned out better than the full-body shots.

I belive this is a costume worn for close details shot.
On all the promo photos you can se its rubber components all over.
The spyshots of the action scenes he can bend and move like he does not wear an armor and its allot more bulkier than the photo shown.

Anyway this is nice to see. Just damn that you did not have your good camaera with you :)

Hope other people can take more photos.

This is why I want to figure out what is the best constant-carry camera available at the moment... both still and video. There's Lumix, there's some kind of new HD video camera that goes for about $300... but what to get so that you are ALWAYS armed for image capture. :angry

Now that I've had a chance to sleep on it, I recall more details that I didn't inclue in my first post:

The cod piece that goes between the legs is ridgid but really thin. It looked like 1/2" to 3/4" wide and was about 1- 1/2" from the material underneath (it made a nice loop between the manikin's legs).

The undersuit did look flexible because it had some slight ripples and was not completely smooth/uniform especially near the legs and around the neck. The neck piece looked like it had an opening in the back (velcro?). It seemed like the armor was a tight fit on the manikin.

The guy who was tapping/touching it, mostly touched the chest armor so I didn't hear if there was a different sound when/if he touched the ab piece or other pieces.

There was a small cord running from the back of the calf to the curtain behind to supply power to the suit.

The weapons pods (bumps) on the forearm looked large and they had a gap around the edge to the suit (like they were moveable or re-movable). The palms were turned toward the rear and so you couldn't get a good look at them or the finger joints on the inside of the hand.

Unlike the Ironman Mark I suit at CES in January, this one was NOT behind a large case but you could put your face right up to it and inspect it closely. I only wish I could have seen the rear better.

Hope someone gets better pics and they don't pull it down before the end of the show like LG did at CES (Mark I was only on view for a few hours the first day).

Brian, as someone building a suit, I would love to see these pictures. Looking forward to seeing them ! :thumbsup
