I usually sand glue blobs on my builds. . .I just too lazy to do so on my heartbreaker until I built the new chest for it :lol

thanks man

the foam still cracks man, just like this one:

this is my iron-patriot boot part, as you can see, pressure from walking cracked the boot flaps, not to mention the friction between the shin and the boot flap damaged the paint on the flap, thus making the black foam visible again.

i think foam cracking is inevitable specially in those pressure points (e.g. boots and knees) and some parts (abs and cod pieces)
i'm just using acrylic emulsion to seal the foam, similar to PVA glue

over time, specially the frequent use of the foam costume, the painted foam will eventually crack, this mark 7 supposed to be in rondo, but my health keeps me from using rondo so i just stick on whats safe for me,

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

Yup, there is no avoiding the cracking. For contact areas like the shoulder bell and lower shin, you can add felt to the insides to prevent chaffing of the paint, but in the end you're still dealing with a flexible material that will crack when stressed.

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

Helmet update. . .Epoxy primed, not yet finished sanding the rest of the helmet. . .but seems pretty good. 20 mins of work done.

UPDATE 03-26-14

Not so much for my personal build update, I've got the helmet fully painted, worked on this for 2 hours this morning. I felt burnt out of the cod piece of the Iron Patriot suit I'm building so I decided to "wind up" a little bit by painting my helmet.

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

Question? Can u move your head to the sides when wearing the helmet? Because im also building mk7 but when I try it on and I put the helmet it keeps hitting the shoulders having limited movements when trying to look to either side

Re: Iron-Man MKVII FOAM WIP [UPDATES]

If your helmet is a little bit big then that seems to be the problem. I never had issues with this yet.

I had to work around that same problem on my MK7... The helmet sits between those raised shoulder 'straps', and it's not too difficult to get the helmet 'locked' into that groove depending on relative helmet and torso scales. I actually sectioned the entire upper torso wider to make sure everything was clear, but it was a lot of extra work. Maybe you can try adding a pad inside the helmet, you might be able to get it raised from the chest a bit without it affecting your vision through the eye holes? You can also flare your neck wrap so the helmet sits slightly higher... :unsure

We have the same problem about having a short neck :lol
You are simply the best foam maker (y)popcorn:cheers:cool

Best foam maker? Come on man, there's alot awesome builders out there. . .

I consider myself "in the middle". . .because if I aim to be in the top, people will hate me and throw rocks at me (believe me, I experienced this ***** alot), if I stay too low, people will likely step on me (and yes I experienced it also). . .so I just stayed neutral, in the middle :lol

But thanks for the compliments man :thumbsup

I second that idea.... I'd also like to try that acrylic emulsion you've been using (if I can find an equivalent here in the states), the finish looks great!
