Thanks my friend:thumbsup Most of the time I like to show or share how i making IM , so everyone have a idea when they made theirs, I have not secret, i try to help.
My hinges set up is a cheap and easy to make, work very cool, just take time to precise:wacko where to glue the screw exactly on both sides, i started with hot glue then when everything is ok, sharpie, epoxy and (optional) fiberglass.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Ok, another update in Puerto Rico, it still rainning:angry, this year is the more rainning in the history of Puerto Rico, i just finished the lexan hinges and the leds for the eyes of IM, once i finish with the paint for the complete suit i will add and glue padding for the helmet interiors and the leds eyes.
P.S.The eyes leds photos one is with the flash on (camera shot) and the other with the flash off, the leds are very bright on both ways.

It still rainnig and lighthing too much:cry, cats and dogs, :cry i want to paint!!!!!, i have to wait a little more, sorry.......

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Gracias, Any update on your IM suit?

i was experimenting with alginate for make the inner parts of the fingers (between), and preparing the arms and legs to apply fiberglass and bondo....by the way, did you apply fiberglass on the outside of the thighs and shin??...because i was thinking that would be hard apply on the inside....

i'll keep watching your progress, i'm a big fan of your work!!!...:thumbsup
i hope it stops raining over there for see your iron man painted

best regards

Gracias and still rainning on and off a lot humidity:angry, after the first resin coat outside the second coat (outside again) is with fiberglass in the bigger areas, for the small section or small area apply fiberglass inside because it is hard to cut small pieces to cover
thoses little areas from the outside you can do it but it takes too much time, the pepakura armor or piece need to be strong so when you apply the bondo filler don't bend.
There are not exact procedure, most of the time i played by instinct.
Sorry for my broken english.
Great work and your suit. Don't give up, don't stress, ok. Take your time.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

It's my first Ironman and large fiberglass project, I don't like to work to much with fiberglass :wacko but i have not other choice and it is easy for me to get it. So..
I following other Ironman threads and so far they looks great, so i decide to do mine.
This costume will be for a person 6' tall, I'm 5'9" my friend is going to use it and the same time it will looks more accurate.
In the next 3 weeks leg will be done, the mid section and arms for the last.
A couple years ago when i have a job and money i saw few ironman costume out there but not very accurate, today (now) i have not job not money and there are very great Ironman suit..:cry
I hope in the next month i find a job and i hope some members sales me (if still available) some parts to complete my suit but meanwhile i will still using pepakura. It is cheap but take too much time.

dud estoy en rio piedras soy fnatico me gustaria conocerte buen trabajo

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

taking your time is what matters most, Don't rush or there will be re work everywhere, that's something I'm comming up against with mine, esp with the paint.

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Here some photos of the armor painted, i started with two coat of silver then
three coat of sunfire color and one coat of clear, i like the color very similar to the original. i painted just the faceplate to see how looks the gold and for me looks great, the armor got some small rough area on those area it will be paint as a battle damage, tomorrow i will paint all the gold areas and all the lines with airbrush, the lines will be paint with black green matte acrily paint making look like dirty oil or something like that.........tomorrow i let you how its look.:confused

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

is that the real suit from the movie? haha..awesome job there dude!

Killer skills!:)

Re: Iron Man Costume from Puerto Rico (pepakura)

Today was rainning, well i worked with the lights of the eyes, i add a level swicth when the faceplate go down the lights turn on, faceplate go up the lights off.
The hand lights, i add a push on/off swicth on the hand armor i can use my thumbs to turn on and turn off the lights. The battery is inside the handplate cover armor with a eslatic cord to maintain the position..see photos.
I almost done with the armor, need gold paint, lines details, some little battle damage, padding on the helmet...i believe that's all.
