iron man and war machine pepakura helmet projects

i just finished reinforcing the outside of the helmets with polyester resin then i will add smooth-on 320 on the inside to further reinforce the helmets i will then start adding body filler to the outside and smooth and sharpen the details with a mouse sander.. the 2 iron man helmets where made by dungbeatle the war machine was made by JUICE both from the 405th and where nice enough to share there work. i hope you guys like it i will post some more pictures soon when i start the fairing work.

card stock

its retains the shape once its built and still allows the resin to soak in and strengthen the piece.

i used 110 lb.weight for the card stock. i am a member at the 405th and this is not the first time I've used pepakura as a base to do models and helmets. i just cant post there as i am still not eligible to start my own thread i am more of a lurker there.

the resin on the 2 helmets at the back just finished curing. now i will add smooth-on 320 on the inside and rotocast the 2 helmets. after the desired layer is built up inside i will then start sanding the surface using my mouse sander. i am in the proses in building my 4th helmet.

try doing it in the noob forum.

it get the most views. So being in the "noob" forum there is actually not all that bad. You'll get lots of feedback and ideas that way.

great work! Im currently pepping the same file as your middle helmet. Any suggestions on going from the 4 separate parts of the helmet to applying the resin? Im just wondering how am I going to fit the pieces together and its keeping its shape! Thanks!

Bondo fiberglass resin. It's like 12 bucks at WalMart. Stinks.

You used Smooth-on 320 inside instead of fiberglass, Vegas? How did that hold up for you?
