Iron Man 3 (Post-release)

I actually forgot to wait for the credits. Can some one tell me what the after credits scene was?
Did you notice how the whole movie Tony was basically doing an overdubbed narrator bit - as if he was talking to the audience ...or a therapist? The after scene credits revealed he was talking to Bruce Banner. Banner nodded off, witty banter ensued... "I'm not that kind of doctor, I'm not a therapist" he doesn't have the "temperament" for it.

I thought that was freaking hilarious! I like how Tony and Bruce Banner have somehow become friends since the events of the Avengers. Despite Bruce not being a psychiatrist or therapist, Tony wanted someone to talk to and chose him. I wonder how he found him though? Unless they exchanged cell numbers or something, it should be pretty difficult to find Dr. Banner unless he and Tony had made some arrangements prior to this movie.

They did leave together in Tony's car at the end of Avengers :thumbup:

It was pretty funny I it was hilarious when he said "When did I lose you at" "an elevator in paris" that was one of the best parts.

Honestly it's a great movie. It kept me entertained and was paced fairly well (with the exception of the beginning) but definitely falls short of the first movie.

I did enjoy seeing more of the man than the suit as it made the moments of Iron Man awesome!

Here's what worked for me:
1. The final boss wasn't another suit of armor
2. The writing of all the characters seemed to work well - I will be honest, Cheadle is a much better fit as Rhodes than Howard. The fire breathing response is what did it for me
3. The use of Pepper - She wasn't just a pretty face to look at this go
4. Tony always seemed to be outmatched and had to figure it out. It makes the audience think that he could actually lose
5. More than a suit of armor - I felt that much more care went into the character developing arc of Tony. I wasn't always looking for the next CG Porn extravaganza
6. The logic of Killian- That was a pretty good idea. They had to add the line about plastic surgery for the Mandarin cause we all know that facial recognition software would have snagged him off of his Facebook page.
7. The Post Avengers Treatment - It wasn't over bearing and it was a nice touch to connect the movies together

Here's what I hated:

1. Lack of AC/DC - Nuff said
2. War Machine/ Iron Patriot didn't do anything! - While Rhodes himself was fun to see on screen, the IP was a worthless redesign. He was basically Wedge Antilles in ANH
3. The use of Pepper - While I liked the first scene when she saved Tony, I don't think that she should have finished off the main baddie. I think she should have somehow weakened him, then Tony calls on the MK42 and levels him. The main hero gets to use what he's created to destroy his nemesis. It would have completed a much cleaner circle. I know it's a thematic element to having her no longer being protected by Tony, but it cheapened it (for me).

Definitely worth seeing. My ranking is 1,3,2

Going back several pages, mainly because I agree 100% with Optimus. This was exactly how I felt after seeing it on Mother's day. Especially the last bit about both liking Pepper's new role and hating her taking out the boss. If they had left it at her smacking him with the pole, I would've been happy. But she turned into Kung Fu ***** and that felt weird. I also think the rest of the ending was way too neat, like they ran out of time to film the ending.

I will add in that I was very impressed with how the scenes with the kid were handled, because it made it obvious that while Tony is improving, he certainly isn't perfect yet, and he's definitely not father material in the traditional sense. And the kid wasn't a sidekick.

I think it says something about either me or the film that Dummy's "death" and the subsequent recovery of Dummy and Butterfingers from the wreckage were the most emotional parts for me. I love those robots.

I kinda feel like this film was supposed to have been released much earlier this year, with the whole Christmas thing. Oh well.

Quick thing to ColKel about the daddy issues: Tony's was actually more sarcastic, in response to the fact that the kid seemed to be completely at peace with his missing dad. Tony spent most of his life coming to terms with why his dad was so "unloving", and the kid is just already okay with it. Hence the way he phrased it. It's called lampshading, and it was pretty hilarious to anyone who didn't sit through the film with a wedgie.

Let me preface this by saying that I knew nothing about this character outside of the 90's cartoon (which i haven't seen since the 90's) before the first film. With that out of the way...

I thought the movie was great. It was exciting and cerebral and witty and never boring. I liked the fact that they showed Tony outside of the suit more than they did in it. It really gives you a chance to delve deeper into the character, which i feel they did very effectively. Don't get me wrong, I love some good Iron Man action, but that's not what it's all about for me. That's why I didn't hate IM2 - it certainly wasn't better than 1 or 3, but I didn't dislike it as much as many other fans did. And yes, even I was a little let down by the Mandarin twist, and not because they completely changed the character from the comic, which i guess they did judging by all the comments on here, but because they were setting him up to be this big bad and in the end he was no more than a front man for Killian's plot, which was disappointing (but boy was Kingsley funny as Trevor). But I didn't let that take away from my enjoyment of the film as a whole.

All-in-all yes, there are many little things that can be nit-picked and pulled apart and analyzed detail by detail, but these things are not the point of the movie, or any movie really. The point was to make an engaging and entertaining film that people would pay the price of admission to see. And of course start phase 2 so we can get to avengers 2. And I think they did that.

Now bring on Man of Steel! I can't wait to see that one.

I thought the film was a stinker. It started off nicely enough but went to hell in a hurry. The kid was a waste and the whole president kidnapping was a waste (they got him back 5 minutes later). The villians were cardboard. The resolution of the mandarin's true identity was a bad joke. The actors also seemed like they were waltzing through it because the film would make a ton of money no matter what so why put a lot of effort into it. Very disappointing.

Went to see it last night. It was good but not as good as I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed seeing all the suits and I really liked the special FX I thought they were pretty outstanding.

I enjoyed it but not as much as 1 and 2.

Ironman 3 Question WARNING SPOILER

Since Tony got the Arc and shrapnel removed, does he have a HUGE hole in his chest where it was?:confused

Re: Ironman 3 Question WARNING SPOILER

I'm sure they "reconstructed" his chest...

Sent from somewhere in time & space...

Re: Ironman 3 Question WARNING SPOILER

i like how we dont know, make up your own mind kind of deal. for me there is no hole but a highly sophisticated and expertly engineered bottle opener. but thats just me

Saw it over the weekend. Loved it. Start to finish - it was just FUN. I had no expectations (I loved IM1 and was disappointed with IM2). They definitely threw a ton in this movie not all of which is resolved but for me, it worked. I can't believe I didn't have the Mandarin spoiler spoiled for me....but it took me by surprise. I am glad the final battle was not a suit v. suit affair again. Kudos to them for changing up the formula (in a few ways).

The whole movie is a botched post-Avengers therapy session. Loved it.

For those who dont know about this. Theres also some for alot of other movies :)

FINALLY! Was waiting on the "How it should have ended" to come out on this one. Waiting on the new Star Trek one as well. I'm sure they will have a lot to joke even though it was a pretty good movie, there were a lot of holes as well.

Love Supes. Here, hold these. REBOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iron Man 3 questions (spoilers)

how is it that jarvis is still working after the house is destroyed? wasnt jarvis his suped-up home computer. if the house is gone, why isnt he?

why would his new prototype mark 42 suit need recharging, isnt that what his chest arch reactor for?

Re: Iron Man 3 questions (spoilers)

Jarvis is stored at a central location beneath the house most likely, just the terminals in the house were destroyed. And the suits operate independent of the arc reactor now, that's why rhodey can have one and that 40 others can show up. Especially since the Mk 42 has independent propulsion parts for each main piece of armor.
