Iron man 3 Mk 8 in pepakura - A collaboration work

After having a strange series of unfortunate events yesterday, I manage to move forward with the project.
Boot and shin was re-scaled, hopefully I got it right this time.
I borrowed Labsic helmet and Zabana hand for rendering (Thank you).
Started to unfolding for the fifth time for boot and shin.
Will do chest and back soon.

Looking good! You guys are the mutt's nuts!! Just started my mark 6 after your encouragement & am using a lot of your beginners tips IMIM2, so thanks again! :thumbsup Will give you a shout out if I start a build thread. Can't wait to check out the finished files. :popcorn

@Dagibbon: Glad I can help. Just drop me messages, if you need anymore help okay? Happy to hear that the tips are helpful indeed.
Apologize for abandoning the tips thread for quite a while, I will post another helpful tips there.

For those of you who asking the files, please do not get your hopes up. This is not like regular pep file. The pep is just a guideline, a lot of scratch build will be needed. So it is not just follow the template and build. And it is not build-proof yet.

I spend an hour to print and cut the template for shin and boot. Hopefully I scaled it right this time.

So I took Royal Dump's suggestion and using new material: Boxinium alloy :lol.
Since this is just a mock up, I just use masking tape for temporary hold.
It turned out the shin is too short and the boot is too wide.
Not bad for two hours cutting and taping.

Well, back to drawing board again.

That sucks. I'm thinking about taking the knee cap off the thigh piece and adding it to the shin. I think it will be much more "wearable" that way... What do you think?

Knee cap can be adjusted later whether stuck to shin or thigh, doesn't really a matter.

I (almost) finished the left shin and boot, after 5 hours working on it.
The shin was too small, so I extended the grey parts. Ended up had to scratch build one part (upper calf), because it supposed to be wider. I can cut and extend, but I decided to make a new one. The greys on the shin has not been detailed.

Shoes is very difficult. I made it with 10mm foam as sole. I am not sure if that is strong enough. I will add carpet strips afterwards.

Glued the sole from front - side - back - other side.

The ankle plates will be connected with thin foam, so it'll remain flexible. It wasn't at the correct position. It is hard to take a picture of own shin from low angle.

I finished unfolding whole arm, chest and back. Hopefully they're in the right scale. Chest and back already printed out.

Split it up..if you have a joint system in leg it realigns every time ..thats how i did mine

Yeah, I saw yours couple of days ago. The knee cap is too long.
But I split it up, it might not re-align.
I might steal your ideas of using elastic, and I wanna add plastic sheet as alignment rail.

Thanks TG!

What i did first was..make the thighs and shins...then added the joints once both legs were matching...i made the knee pieces...what i did was make the knee as one solid piece but cut it in half and taped it back together on the outside...before glueing it all together on the inside...i left the tape on then glued the knee to the shin and thigh...removed the tape and that was it mine realigns everytime...now i also added on the inside of the knee cap i made something similar to the back of the leg...took a few strips of foam with elastic and ran it from the thigh to shin so when the knee is split apart you dont see under suit but more foam armor...like in the concept photo i posted

Thanks for the heads up TG. Good tip on the knee cap.

My plan is to have the cap connected to both thigh and shin.
But my concern is that the elastic may not be stretched at the same rate, leaving the cap not in balance.

This was something I wanted to do when I built Mk6.
I don't like the idea of a cap stick either to thigh or shin. Your concept splitting in two are brilliant, since the knee cap is so long.

I will wait for my partner to finish his part then decided what to do with the knee cap..

I just finished cutting up the template for back and chest.

And can I get the files pmed to me I don't care if their not perfect I'm looking for close please I got a party that everyone expects me to build this one for it

Sorry, the files will be available when they are done.
But there are two epic free hand builds on here. Check our tribals build and the one by... Quoro.... Shoot sorry, forgot his name. Just search "mark 8" you could follow their progress and make your own free hand build. :)
