Introducing Brand New Halo Master Chief Armor *FINISHED! New Pics on Pg 24!

That looks excellent.
If you could ,a walkthru of the steps of getting the 3d game model to cardboard mockup would be great.
Thanks

Amazing. The weathering you've done is great. I'm a huge fan of the Halo series, although I'm not too much of a fan of the Spartan armor in Halo 2 (I liked the armor in Halo: Combat Evolved better, for some reason). Still, I love the job you've done on this.

I'll definately be following this thread. :)

woah...that wireframe armor looks badass... You should just make an unrendered version of the suit.

Keep the updates coming! The suit looks great too, and the helmet........................perfection!

:thumbsup

That is quite impressive. This is shaping up to be the finest Mjolnir armor I have seen yet. The proportions are awesome. Most I see, the helmet is too big for the rest of the costume or the armor is balooned out so the wearer appears too stocky. Yours is excellent in scale.

Do you reinforce the cardboard somehow, got a peek from the inside of the armor pieces for me?

I might be able to adapt your method for my own custom costume.

Thanks in advance, Markus :)

AGAIN....AWESOME WORK...

No thereÂ’s no reinforcement, right now itÂ’s just a big elaborate piece of origami. IÂ’m not going to use it for anything other that sizing and adjusting scale of the individual pieces so that when I do the final sculpts they are the correct size and shape.

Looking at the reference pictures from halo 3... it doesn't get much better than that.

Any idea how anyone might do the texture on it, if they were going to try?

OMG.... I'm going to go broke with all this obsesive helmet collecting..

As for the texturing, maybe you could try using spray paint at various distances from the piece your trying to texture. I get a pretty nice parkerized texture finish on the E-11 blasters I scratch build that way, using Rustoleum Professional (in the silver can) paint.

For texture, you'd probably want the cast itself to be textured, which would mean the sculpt was textured, probably with a sponge of some sort. he's Doing the Halo 2 armor though which doesn't have much pock marking like that so I don't think he'll be doing it.

For texture.. you may try to spray on RHINO lining..the stuff you spray on the bed of your truck?? i know you can change the color on some of these type of sprays.

a few students of my old sculpting prof. had to use this stuff on a project, worked great.

This is exactly what I was going to try and do. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

texture similarity might be pretty close. Size of texture grain might be too big... we'll have to experiment.

They also have that fake rock spray that is used on flowerpots etc.

If you want the clay to have texture use brushes to stab at it.

Awsome work on both the helmet and the armor :thumbsup

I would be carefull with the rhino spray, it's going to eat up a lot of your detail. You'll either have to exagerate the detail in the sculpt or go very light on the spray. You could also try texturizing the sculpt itself. Take some heavy grit sandpaper and press it into the clay. Or use that "hammered finish" paint that you can get at home depot.

Keep up the great work.
