Ran across this the other day and thought it was kind of cool.

Notice how the clamp is upside down?

Could be wrong but that looks like the saber from the scene where Luke first ignites it. So yeah, probably a stunt.
 
Yeah, it's a stunt--note how it has no "recharge ports". It's a tube with some Graflex add-ons on it, not an actual Graflex. Note also the end is painted black--it was probably used for Vader, and might be the saber that ended up being the ESB stunt that the weird bolts were added to (that ended up being the ROTJ Vader stunt).
 
My guess would be in insert a rod to 'hold' the motor assembly while screwing and unscrewing the blade assembly.

Dude, I said rod and screwing in the same sentence !

ESB/ROTJ Vader stunt was a real Graflex body so probably no relation to this one.
 
Great photo, but the look on Hamill's face makes ya' wonder what Fisher is doing with her other hand. :eek
