Hi, forum threads on various boards often have comparison requests for the many licensed and "fan-made" versions, especially with helmets from Star Wars. Posted responses are all over the map - good, bad, and ugly. We SW fan are fortunate to have Jez's terrific starwarshelmets.com site.
I enjoy photographing my helmets, some of which are different versions of the same one. I'd like to construct a stationary background (including helmet stand) to remain unchanged when swapping out helmets. That way, it's "apples to apples" comparisons for distance, angle, lighting, etc.
What I envision for the background "set" is:
- A three-sided box, with a floor. From the viewer's POV, you'd see a left wall, a right wall, a floor, and the back wall. Open front, and open top. Size of all box panels would be let's say 18" to 24" square, and the helmet stand remains centered.
What I'm struggling with is what, if anything to print on the 3 walls and floor. I thought about a black gridline pattern on white background, maybe in 2-inch squares. Kind of like walls/floor of "giant" graph paper.
Any suggestions? Thanks a lot, I'll share what I end up with.
