Indiana Jones Props from Noble Collection!

I'm torn because I'd really like an official licensed whip, although it would be nice to have an accurate one that you could take in the backyard and crack every once in a while. How long was the Raiders bullwhip in the movie? Anyone have a good link where I can educate myself about Indy whips?

I'm really surprised Noble is even offering the whip, which is definitely a wall hanger and for display purposes like everything else they offer. I guess they're not allowed to offer any other props until the new movie comes out. So, they were eager to offer something.

Is Todds costumes a screen accurate for ROLA :confused I like 12 plait for $200 I wish it was a 10' footer like the films used for when the whip was on the belt :unsureis there another source for one :lovemine would be for display.

In my experience the Noble Collection isn't known for their screen accuracy or functionality. I highly suggest not trying to crack their whip lol.

God, now I want a Indy whip, you guys are contagious!

Giovanni Celeste and Purewhips are really good makers and their prices are also very good for what I know...:)

An accurate Staff of Ra made of metal wouldn't cost THAT much and would look so much better than that whip and machete.

Those two items are so readily available at such a better price it's not worth it. Now what WOULD be cool would be something you mount on the wall to hang your whip hat and jacket on. Even if it's not screen accurate I'd love to have something to display the stuff I already have. How bout some kind of stand that looks like the Chachapoyan table the idol was standing on. Maybe just the top portion to display some Indy gear. How bout a pair of his glasses that come with non-prescription but can be filled by ones local doctor? Just so long as they keep the Indy logos subtle. Subtle is good.

10 foot, that was the length that was used most of the time

10 foot was what was hanging from the belt. The only REAL whip-cracking scene in the trilogy, (the Cairo Marketplace. The cracking in the rest of the scenes was created in editing,) was an 8 footer.

And I'd buy an officially licensed whip before I'd buy a JRZJOE whip from eBay. At least then I have OFFICIAL crap...

The Todd's Costume whip LOOKS really nice, and it WILL crack easily, but it's 12 plait leather, (not sure from what, but it's not Kangaroo to my understanding,) with a solid Rubber core. It's a very interesting design. Don't know how it would hold up to the abuse I put my Kangaroo whips through, (and Todd doesn't suggest doing it. Yes, it will crack. Probably better than the licensed Noble Collection whip, and CERTAINLY better than a JRZJOE whip, but it's made for costuming. Todd is filling a great niche here; People who want REALLY good looking whips, but aren't going to go out and do regular sport cracking with it. Let's not mistake it for something it's not.)

God luck, and all the best!

I have a 10', 12 plait leather Indy whip from a guy who used to be on COW. Went by ECWhips, but I can't seem to find his website anymore.

Thing cracks like a champ, but a 10' is hard to do anything more than a normal overhand crack. Anything more complicated and it gets tied up. I learned two thing the first time I cracked; 1) it sounds like a gunshot, so make sure you don't have jumpy neighbors and 2) I understand completely why Indy wears a fedora, leather jacket and long pants - it's safety gear more than anything else.

For cracking, you want either an 8 or 6 foot.

I don't think East Coast Whips is making whips anymore. I haven't seen or heard from him in a while, (can't recall his name, but his stuff looked good.)

And Hedjii72, I wouldn't actually go with a David Morgan whip unless you're dead set on getting one from the guy who made them for the movies. He's currently got a LONG waiting list, and he doesn't make them like he used to, (and won't.)

That's not to say that David's whips aren't great. There's just other really good makers out there will less of a waiting list and cost less money for just a fine, (or better in my humble opinion,) quality.

See the the thread located here for more on that:

Lots of great info in this and other linked threads on Indy whips for a new person. Always been a fan and have been toying with the idea of starting an IJ collection. Have my first piece coming. I think a whip is next now. Thanks a lot guys!
