Indiana Jones jacket question

I've decided to pick up the Wested jacket, but my question is: What, if any, difference is there in the ROTLA and TLC jacket? The pics on the Wested site don't really leave you much to go on, but they offer jackets from all movies. Weren't the jackets all pretty much the same?

Thanks,
Wes

Last crusade jackets have a bigger collar, and a storm flap snap at at the top. In theory Raiders have smaller front pockets but I think they all come with the larger Last Crusade size these days (to fit the diary). That's the major stuff off the top of my head.

That pretty much sums it up. You can also head over to COW and read up on a bunch of other nitpicks, like the actual leather used, the exact size of pocket placements, zippers, etc.

Personally, I think their "Raiders" jacket already has the LC collar size already (unless they changed it up from the last few years).

There is a lot of debate over the perfect Raiders style jacket, but it seems that Tony Nowak (the guy who made the jackets for Crystal Skull) is the one to go to for the ultimate in screen-accuracy...however, his jackets come with a steep price.

Uber accuracy isn't that important, especially for a steep price increase. I'm not sure how the inch shorter will affect me, seeing as I'm only 5'8".

I appreciate the responses. What is Wested's turn around time n the jackets? Are they an in stock item or special order?

Thanks,
Wes

The ToD jacket has silly pockets. And their Raiders jacket doesn't have the LC collar. Usually the jackets are in stock if you order off the rack.

Surprisingly, thier custom jackets are not that much more expensive than the OTR ones.
For sixty or seventy more, it may be worth it to get a custom..I think that is what I will end up doing when the time comes for me to order my Wested.

Boy, I typed a long answer... read COW, Filmjackets.com and IndyLounge for the details of how all 4 jackets differ.

Specifically Wested. They have 2 tiers of jackets. OTR and Custom. OTR are made in India. Custom in the UK.

They have 2 styles of Raiders of the Lost Ark jackets:

1) 'Raiders', this is a corrected sturdier pattern, it has leather facings on the zipper to make it more 'finished'. It's assumed to be less screen accurate.

2) 'ROLA' this has most of the detailed specs fans ask for, narrow yoke, closer fitting silver zipper etc.

If you are slim the ROLA may fit you better than the RAIDERS.

Then they have Last Crusade and Crystal Skull patterns.

Imo, look into getting a ROLA custom. Read up on the details included and then see if there is anything that you really NEED it to have and make sure you specify that. ie silver zipper, or a narrow yoke with rear sleeves seams falling below the yoke.

The Temple kicks butt too IMO.

There are lots of leathers to chose from and you will have to look at them to decide. New cow and horse whilst tough, do not hang like the original trilogy jackets which were all lamb. (there is some debate about the LC!). A interesting compromise is washed goat with is thin but tough. It has a very matt finish that puts some people off but it ages to something quite nice quite quickly.

A little reminder as to what the Raiders really looked like:

I've signed up over at COW, but my account hasn't been activated yet.

There's definitely a lot of information to digest, on the jackets. But seeing how it won't be an every day jacket, and supreme screen accuracy isn't my goal, it would seem the ROTLA goat will be my best choice.

I do appreciate everyone's input.

Wes
