Indiana Jones Holy Grail replica review

Offered by the very talented 'Bazzano Jones', I am now the proud owner of one of these expertly crafted prop replica of the Holy Grail cup from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
What can I say that the pictures can't say for themselves?
I can tell you that right from the box, this thing really felt like an artifact. The aging detailing on this replica is outstanding. When compared to the photograph of the original prop in the Lucasfilm Archives book, it's blaringly obvious why this replica is the best out there! Though the gold detailing on the outside of the cup is more randomly placed and not exactly as we see in the book, it adds the the uniqueness of the prop and makes it even more a piece of art.
The replica came with a vintage-style ID tag, though not seen in the movie, it is a nice addition and looks fantastic displayed with the cup.
If I were to score this thing, and I am, I am giving it a 10/10 - one of the BEST indipendently made prop replicas I have EVER added to my collection!
Special thanks to my lady, sunshinedust for getting this for my birthday.

This is indeed a gorgeous replica (as is all Bazzano Jones's work). It looks fantastic. My only complaint is that is that it is made out of wood. I would expect this prop to be made out of clay.

However, I would never put down Bazzano's work. He is a top notch artist, and if you are looking for a great LOOKING grail and don't care about the feel of it (like if it is ONLY for display), Bazzano does make a fantastic grail (among all his other amazing props).

Oh, and that little tag it came with. That's a great example of Bazzano's attention to detail. That guy has a gift for details.

Really nice Frosty! There are alot of innacurate grails out there but yours looks really spot on. I would be proud to have that in my collection.

Thank you very much for your very kind words, guys!
And many thanks again to Frosty for this beautiful review! :thumbsup

As I said on COW, I want only specify that my inspiration for the Grail is NOT the Archive Book Grail (from wich I have take the overall measurements only). My main inspiration for shape and decoration was the Grail in the scene together with the false Grails; this is the first Grail that we see on screen and, IMHO, it has the best shape and decoration of all the other Grails. ;)

My inspiration was this frame:

Would these be safe to drink from? I only ask because I am a minister and these would be awesome to serve the Eucharist from.

Unfortunately it's not safe for drinking in. I would love to make one "usable" but it's pretty difficult due to the gold foil inside the cup.

The only way for me to make it useable was to not paint and foil the inside, leaving it in natural, smooth wood. :)

I know somewhere it refers to the Grail as a simple clay cup and that's cool but I love my Bazzano Grail and one of the many many reasons is because it is wood. Not only is it just cooollliiiooo to feel a cup made from wood but ***** was a carpenter. Okay in reality there was no cup and the Grail is totally made up, but the idea that the cup is one ***** himself made makes wood the natural choice.

Again, clay totally cool, I just love the wood and Bazzano's Grail is like RelicMaker's COC. It may be copied someday but it can never be bested because it is Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Thank you for your words, Jameth! :)

Very jealous! Does the gold flake come off easily if touched? Is it really fragile? Just wondering how careful you have to be displaying it! Thanks for any info! Great grail. Absolutely amazing!

No, the gold foil it's pretty resistant once the glue dried. You can handle the Grail without fear of damage it. Also the weather and dust effect it's painted or glued so you can touch the cup without remove it. :)

The only thing you can't do, as I wrote some posts ago, it's drink on the Graal. In this case the glue may melt...and you'll do a feast of glue and gold foil! :sick

Are they still available, mate? Because that is a thing of beauty.

What is COW by the way?
