If you're still thinking about going overboard for that Target BB-8...

The Jakks Pacific BB-8 at top is supposed to be in scale with the 31" figure line. He looks about 18" tall (same as R2 behind him) which is way too tall to be in scale.
Their same size R2-D2 runs about $75-80 for the electronic version and $50 non-electronic.
I think BB-8 would be around the same price point. $130 is way too expensive.

May look better than Sphero, but he doesn't ROLL around...

If his body isn't rolling, not interested.

Not sure if the info is clear to everyone as people are getting the two items mixed up. They are both 16" (according to the internet, BB-8 should be 26" to be 1:1)

One in the original post above is Jakks Pacific. It is a large figure. Two versions will be offered, A non electronic one and one with electronics and lighter arm. The electronics are not for motion, just lights and sounds.

The other one that is getting a lot of talk is the Spin Master product for $180. This item does move but Spin Master is not allowing any video to be taken at toy fair, only photos which throws up a red flag for me. The frustrating thing about the press/media is that they keep using terms like "full-size" and "life-size" when this thing is 10" too short to be considered 1:1 scale.

I just want a static BB-8. Some lights and sounds would be good but I just want it for display so motion is not needed. The bad thing is I think Sideshow would probably have the only license in the US for a 1:1 replica so I would expect if they did a BB-8, it would cost sever thousand for basically a statue. So for the only thing that comes close is the new Think Geek lamp but all the details are painted/screen printed (no 3D detailing).

The same here. Exactly the same.

Yeah, to bad. Otherwise i already would have tried to get one. But i want panellines and real details.

Same here. I'd be perfectly happy with some lights and maybe sounds. I don't really care about a robotic version, that's what I have my sphero for.
