Angel has now started his own site, the rrpf.com... Recasting replica props forum. ;)

I am pretty sure you are joking but there is an RRPF.org

Well, good to see that Angel has been banned.
Furthermore, i wanna sign DP74's post. Davy is a real nice guy, helping out with tipsNtricks whenever i was stuck in problems with my own projects. I admire Davy for his perseverance and the high quality of his work. He's a inspiration!

So sorry to hear about this Davy. I agree with the majority that this was wrong and he should not have done that. I have also dealt with Angel regarding an Iron Man related part recently. I bought a helmet from Angel around Halloween. Helmet arrived and was not entirely "completed". I have been in talks with him regarding a partial refund on the helmet. We agreed on a partial refund amount and I have been waiting for him to refund that to me But now that he is banned how should I contact him about it?

ok i has realy one question :) i live in germany and angel live in England how it can be that people has the same house ?

He tried refunding me 2 weeks ago and paypal shows that it failed due to non sufficient funds. Emailed him yeaterday again about it. No response yet. May have to open a Paypal dispute.. :unsure

I would save time and stress and just dispute it to make sure you get it, my friend.
Good luck!

it was what he said here that made me laugh.. the cheek of it.. (n)angry

While I am glad he is banned for being a lying... plagiarizer (sorta?) waste... hasn't the damage already been done as far as Davy is concerned???

Yeah but I was just celebrating the ban, I thought that was obvious. I know it isn't truely fixed but good to see Angl is no longer part of such a great community of people that work hard at their craft.

Some people just don't know when to stop and face the chopping block they helped shape (recast :p)

No it was obvious. I'm just one of those people who think along the lines of once a thief always a thief. Sucks he will keep posting Davy's build on ebay and making $$

Awesome avatar BTW

Yeah I know what you mean man. I must admit I had an extra special interest in this due to being from the UK so may fall victim to him also. Of course my main concern was for Davy cause as I have said in an earlier post this kind of thing drills me through.

No way! I never stopped to look at where your from Robo 0_o
Now I know a good source for UK product info :)

His inability to fluently use English and his ridiculous claims and rambling made me want him banned even worse.

At least if Davy does another build this guy can't recast it and everyone else knows to avoid him now

I hated how he tried the computer illiteracy card too seeing as he has had no problem scamming/fooling people with one.

I know what you are trying to say but be cautious because we don't want to seem unwelcoming to members who's native language is not English. I think it is rather amazing that so many people have come together in this community from all around the world. I enjoy having the diversity and I think it is great that everyone here makes a good attempt at communicating in English even if it is not always fluent.

Congrats to Davy, sorry you were recast but at least the truth has come out and he was banned. He's made a name for himself now, folks know to avoid him and the word will spread between forums. Funny how someone who needed to buy a suit for a personal project was able to learn how to make his own in 2 months after realizing the product he bought didn't fit him. I know if I bought some Levi's that didn't fit it my first instinct wouldn't be to try and create my own, but whatever...

I also wanted to address something from way back on page 1:

I know this is pretty harsh but really, if someone wants to buy your work, then you are essentially selling the rights to it also. If you are really that upset about someone making money of your hard work, then don't sell what you build.

I empathize with you, I would hate to see someone making money from what I have done. Angel should be banned because what he has done is completely disrespectful.

My advise to all you costume builders out there, make sure that you get some legal advise/documentation before selling your goods to prevent something like this happening. A written agreement outlining the intend and allowed uses of the item. That way if it can be proven (as is clearly the case here) then you can take legal action against them.

Nothing you wrote is legally true. I'm no expert in copyright law, but as a graphic designer I deal with it regularly and content creators never sell their license when selling a product unless they specifically state that they are, usually in legal documentation accompanying the product.

If I create a poster and sell it to you, that does not give you the right to scan and reproduce that poster. I also do not need to provide legal documentation with that poster expressing that you do not have the right to recreate it. If you do I can still pursue you in court and will win, easily.

Another example, if I create an illustration for a newspaper and sell it to them for use in this weeks paper, they do not have permission to use it on their website, in ads promoting their paper, etc, etc, UNLESS we agreed to it in the original terms.

Heck, if you bought the Mona Lisa from Leonardo himself you wouldn't have legal grounds to reproduce and resell that likeness. While no longer owning the painting himself, Leonardo would still retain all rights to the image and could print it on anything he wanted and sell it as much as he wanted, whether you liked it or not as the owner of the original art. Why? Because the artist retains the license.

Artists always retain copyright over their works unless they specifically sell said rights or they are creating works in a Work Made for Hire situation, where their employer is legally the author (example, Disney artists, etc.).

Drives me crazy when people claim artists sell their rights away with their works.
