I need to build 15 jetpacks....

Re: I need to build 17 jetpacks....

We bought silver plastic party cups for the propulsion bells. Using a utility knife, I cut an "X" from end to end

Next I draped hot glue over the "X" and slammed each cup down over a bottle spout until the plastic cup rested against the bottle.

So now the jet pack looks like this:

I asked my wife if we should get some matte black spray paint to mist the edges of the bells for authentic blast residue...

Looking great! What if you hot glued plastic bowls on to as domes? Keep us posted with pics!

Re: I need to build 17 jetpacks....

I really love this thread! Got me thinking, a really easy, cheap, and lightweight way to "jazz up" the packs would be to whip up some simple graphics on the computer and glue them on. You could have "CAUTION", "KEEP BACK", "EXPERIMENTAL", "PROPERTY of US GOVERNMENT", do a fuel door like a fighter jet..............whatever you like!

I would also recycle the caps and glue them to the side as a dial or knob. Please keep us updated!

oooh, I like this idea. I also like the graphic idea especially since I have 2 jetpacks that are different color plastics.

So a lot happened (that my wife updated that we didn't get pictures of) First, we bought silver duct tape and used that around the jet pack cannisters and the exhaust bells to hold the newly cut pleather straps on.

Next, we filled the exhaust bells (silver cups) with orange tissue paper (the kind you would stick in a birthday present) and red shiney wrapping paper for the flames.

So this is what it looks like as a completed jet pack - now we have to make 14 more....

You could maybe get a couple of those battery-powered lights cheap, glue them in the cups, and get a "flickering exhaust" effect in the nozzles?

Re: I need to build 17 jetpacks....

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! AAMOF I might just dig up some pictures of my daughters "Pirate Birthday Party" from a few years ago!

Here is the tape we got from Lowes:

So for the assembly line process of making the multiple Jet Packs:

1. When making multiple bells, I found it best to stack 2 cups together and cut them 2 at a time for rigidity:

2. Next we filled the bottles with the packing peanuts:

3.Cups on bottles:

4. Then we began to assemble the pleather straps using hot glue.

5. Next we began to wrap 3 pieces of the silver duct tape around the places where we glued the straps.

That pleather looks like the exact stuff I used on my daughters Gene Simmons costume.
