I just read that Irvin Kershner passed away

I've just had a look at his profile on IMDB, when you consider the masterpiece than is ESB i'm amazed how little he directed. He should have done ROTJ as well.
RIP.

RIP Irvin.

Very sad. Wonderful director, and ESB was a masterpiece.

With the success of Empire, why didnt he direct ROTJ? A lucas decision?... :(

Weequay

rip,

thank you for inspiring me to dream, create and collect, your contribution has been a driving force in my life and will be missed, take care.:cry

Wish I could've met him once...almost did at the Anaheim Wizard World was gonna present him with a honorary membership to the MandoMercs. But he couldn't make it due to health reasons.

So sad.. While ANH will always be my personal favorite (because it is the one that changed my life so much), there is no denying that Empire is the best of ALL the SW movies, cartoons, games, etc. Empire is a perfect flick and nothing else SW even comes close. Lucas needed more non-yes men like this.

When I saw this thread I thought "Whoa, I could have sworn he was already gone" I was sad about Kersh too, but it has been a few years..we should be feeling better by now. ;)
(anybody else see the weird irony in this thread getting necroed? )

Shame the news of the death of a big film director who directed one of the biggest films of all time didnt get as much publicity as someone who starred in 5 or 6 films.

Outside of the fan/geek world... I doubt 1 out of 50 people could tell you what he did if you tell them his name.
Paul Walker... 9 out of 10 would know who he is and the name of at least one movie. And the reach of that knowledge would stretch from fans of his films, to people who don't watch his films, to girls who just think he is hot.
