I Guess I've Made a Lot of Costumes...

Your work never fails to amaze, astound, inspire.....and more.. However i have to ask, the Imperial guard armour, was that designed from scratch or built from templates?

Love your work man, I had read through your Space Marine thread before, and seen the Make magazine article. Thanks for sharing your work, and being such an inspiration for aspiring builders!

The work is soo good, simply can not do other then stare and be amazed. Crazy epic builds you have there, simply WOW!

Watch out! We got a PRO over here! :)

wow all your suits are awesome. You make tutorials for any of them?
also kudos on the "Honey, can you hold this proton pack.... lower, lower.... perfect!" I'll try that move on my wife. :lol

These ones?:

Parts were scratchbuilt and parts were started as pepakura models that I turned into vacforming bucks. I've got a build thread for those at Obscurus Crusade: Obscurus Crusade -> Thorssoli's Cadian Squad

Somewhere on that forum you can find links to the pep models.

You can read all sorts of how-to articles in my blog at When My Brain Leaks, the Drops Drip Here.. I also usually add links to my favorite projects in my signature.

The proton pack pic you're talking about is my little sister. The pose was her idea. Her exact line was "this angle will get you more views on the internet." She's a genius.

Are you, by chance, the guy who was on the cover of this years make magazine?

That was me:

It was a lot of fun working with the crew at MAKE to do the photoshoot and interview and whatnot. If you haven't read it, you can get more info at Make 32: Design for Makers

for your halo armor what material or materials did you use to make the visor/reflective face shield thing (I'm not quite sure what to call it)?

I did them two different ways. The first handful were vacformed in orange-tinted acrylic which was then mirrored on the inside using a light coat of Spazstix Mirrorchrome paint. The newer ones I'm doing with vacformed PETG which is then dyed orange with iDye Poly and mirrored in the same way as the old ones.

In other news, I'm expanding my list of finished stuff to include this helmet:

You can see out of it. Even when the eyes are lit up:

The rest of the costume is still in progress. I'll be posting pics of it here when it's done. In the meantime, check out the build thread here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/just-what-forum-needs-another-ironman-build-170665/

You talent, and product speaks for itself! I am just glad you care to share with all of us here, for a "behind the scenes" process vs only seeing the final result
