I got tired of looking at my "white" Joyride Viper so....

I decided to build a clean version of the reissued Revel/Monogram kit that came out. It's coming either today or tomorrow and I was looking at my "too damned white" Joyride Viper and got an idea...."Why not do a practice run?":love

So, in preparing for when my Revel/Mongram reissued kit comes either later today or tomorrow, I took apart my white Joyride Viper and painted the main color light aircraft gray. I detailed the exposed engine pipes copper and painted some black detail on the guns. I also made sure that the intake fans, exposed engine detail (It's all one form fitting rubber piece!), and burner cans were removed.

I think it turned out fantastic!! Now to let the paint cure for a couple of days before masking it off to paint back the markings.

What do you guys think?

Looks good! Pretty light even there though. Maybe it's the lighting in the photo. I'd say it could go even darker.

It is just a hair darker in person, but I've seen pics of the filming Vipers being built and their about as light as the Light Air Craft Gray. I was really surprised at just how light they were!

I would do weathering, but I have no skills to do so and don't want to frack up my model. Which by the way, is done now short of putting on the decals....12 hours spent straight....wheee!!!

Goodnight all.....

Total time : 13 1/2 hours

Not too shabby, the last time I built a model was 23 years when I was 15. It was an AMT TOS Enterprise, and I must say, the Viper turned out better than any model I've done yet. Too bad I don't have the skills to weather this bad boy, it practically screams "Weather me...PLEASE!!"

Sorry guys, but long story short, I was adding some more details to it and fracked it up. I know I'm not the first person to screw a kit up, but now I remember why I quit building them in the first place.

So, if you can't do something right, hire someone else who can. :p See my other thread.
