Looking great so far. That´s a lot of work carving it in wood, it looks like it will end a beautiful sculpture. Looking forward to see it finished.
What wood are you working on?
I started carving stone and carving these noble materials is something different. A friend of mine, a good stone sculptor, used to say it´s like praying.

This was around 25-30 years ago. He worked for a Spanish sculptor called "Santiago de Santiagos". Actually it was him and another guy who carved the pieces for the artist. It was all black marble (marmol de Calatorao), the kind that smells like fart when you hit it with the chissel. Beautiful but smelly.
You can google the sculptor´s name and see his work.

finally finished !

Awesome carving job. Congrats.
By the way, the pic of the toothless guy...that man was a well known character here in Spain, specially in TV. "Ristas" ("giggles"), sort of a freak/comedian. Made me smile when I saw the pic.
