Hi everyone,
This is my first proper post. My name is Chris Stanley and I run "Cosplay Chris" on Youtube. I'm based in Sydney, Australia and specialize in all things cosplay, movie reviews, prop building and collectable reviews. My laster endeavour has been a hybrid Bat suit for a convention, "Supanova" 2014.

The process started with a friend of mine design a custom cowl in a 3D program and then had said file 3d printed over at Shapeways.

I then took a silicone mold of the print after it had been filled and primed. This would allow me to produce rubber copies.

But eventually the idea was shelved dude to the cowl not sitting right once it was on my head.

I then had a buddy of mine design the body suit that was then printed onto 4 way stretch lycra

The gauntlets were from superhero gloves. I then added some armor plating by using plates from motorbike armor. Then added Batman Begins fins.

The utility belt was originally a tactical pouch belt. I then designed and sculpted the buckle and cast it in resin.

In the end I settled on a Batman Begins style cowl for the final suit. Really gives you the beastly look :)

It is too bad the first cowl didn't sit right, It had a really great profile. The completed costume still turned out great though. Love the pic with the cat!

Nice work! You pull off the Batman/Bruce Wayne look quite nicely. I especially like the suit (still looking for a good/affordable printer here in the US). And I agree with Doc Spengler, the one with the cat is a win.

I love all but the cowl. But that's my personal choice cause I never liked the batman begins cowl. The jawline is to small and needs to open up more of the mouth area. But over all I love everything else.

Thanks very much for the kind words, guys :)

Do you have any other pics of that first cowl? Or specifics on how it didn't sit right? Because in the picture provided it looks fantastic. I'd personally love a cowl like that. The perfect blend of organic and high-tec.

Hi mate :)
I'll try and dig up some more pics I took. The cowl design itself is fantastic and has so much potential, but when it came down to it, it was my head shape (mostly my ears) that changed the shape and made the overall structure look unnatural.

I don't suppose you or your friend would be okay with making the 3D model available to the public so people could try it out in pepakura, would you?

Ah, what a shame! Looks like lots of good work went into it. Looking forward to seeing more pics though. Perhaps one of the expert cowl makers around here can loan you some tips on working out the kinks and you can have another go at it someday. I've never done urethane casting myself, but I know myself and others would be throwing money at our monitors for a cowl like that. It's very unique, and that's a good thing!

Hey, do you think I could get a copy of the 3D model of the first helmet? It fit's in with the older Batman costume I'm working on, as well as the Smallville Batman. So, thanks in advance.

I second this haha, either the 3D file or as a pdo if available, would love to make this as a pep cowl...one of my fav cowls that I've seen

Awesome cosplay. One of the best Batman suits I have seen. I think an Arkham Origins or Batfleck cowl would work well with your suit.
