Hi all.

Here's my second Vader ANH cut-away, built from the remains of the first as featured in Sci-Fi and Fantasy Modeller issue 5.
This will be the last Vader cut-away as this particular build is so difficult.
It's almost finished, just a grip to glue on and some final cleaning up.
Usual illuminated quartz crystal and an illuminated lab grown diamond for the emitter.
I know, I know. Time for me to move on and build something else - this cut-away stuff's getting old. :lol

A very BIG thank you to Mike (ATL Kenobi) for a handful of very useful parts. You can see them used from the bubbles on the activator strip and in a few other key areas!

This model is heading to eBay soon to help pay for my MR Falcon...

Thanks for looking!

:confusedWOW! :confused

That's incredible work:thumbsup.

Your level of sophistication is an order of magnitude above what I could even imagine. And all the pieces fit together like a well orchestrated piece of music ;)

Thanks for sharing.

What's next for you?

Dang man! I didn't think you could improve on your last one, but I think you have. That thing is so real looking. Great, great work there!

Thanks DL 44, rad1701 and Got Maul for your kind words!

Mike many thanks! ;) Understood :thumbsup

Next up is perhaps a Luke cut-away, but that's a little way down the line...
I have the parts, but these things are exhausting so it's time for a break.
First, I'm planning a studio scale model from the SPACE:1999 universe. It will be a scratch built Eagle type craft of my own design, in scale with the 44" Eagle models used in the show.
There's a backstory I've written to validate the model and its function, and to be honest I'm really looking forward to working with plastic and wood for a change!

Howard.

Another masterpiece!

I like the similarity of the design elements to the reveal helmet.

Glad to hear that your hobby building cutaways can fund other aspects of your collecting hobby too. Wish I had the talent for that!

Too bad we missed you at CE :unsure
Chris showed us a pic of you with the red bandana, but we didn´t find a small guy wearing it ;)

Wowzers. That's sexy! The details are amazing. Is there an LED glow in there somewhere? I like that you can't tell where the light source is. Really cool work!.

Fantastic work as always Howard. You know... after having built a few of these myself I think can actually see your pain in certain areas of the saber. The long nights... the aching back from hunching over table trying to get those little frikkin greeblies to stay put... the damn superglue getting just a liiiiiiittle bit messy. The trick is to continually try radical new design ideas to keep it stimulating and it's completely understandable that you're giving up the Vader at this point. I'm currently doing a Windu... it's the first saber where I haven't had to scratch build the shell, which is a nice change of pace.

Looking forward to seeing what comes next! :thumbsup
