How to prevent cowl sweating?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if any of you had any advice on how to prevent sweating inside a batman cowl, or any cowl for that matter? are there any tricks for airflow?
My husband loves dressing up as capt. america and batman but boy... sometimes he sweats so bad it all drips on his chest...
He prevents it some by stuffing paper towels in between his neck and bottom of cowl but that only works for a little bit until it begins leaking down on his chest again lol.

How do you guys deal with this?

My friend used to have the same problem with his begins costume, and the way he fixed it was with a method mentioned on the brotherhood of the bat. Someone over there said to place super absorbent female maxie pads in the neck and other areas where you sweat. It sounds weird, but it really does work.

ProFace makes a perspiration retardant called "No Sweat". Professional clowns use it under wigs, noses, and makeup. I use it under my Wicked Witch of the West facial appliances. It works very well.

Though I don't wear cowls, I do wear costumes with full helmets and masks. Has he tried a balaclava? I use one in my TIE Pilot and Republic Commando, and it definately helps keep the sweat out of my eyes. Maybe it can do something similar for your husband.

Yep, friend of mine has been doing regular appearances as the Micheal Keaton Batman for a long time now and he swears by them. Helps to put them above the brow area of the cowl too.

Underarmour also sells skull caps.

Whatever you use, as long as it works. Nothing like ruining a good shot of the batsuit with an end of the night picture of sweat running down the chest of Batman

I was aiming for a cowl/foreskin connection there...probably not my best joke. You can't try too hard, you know? :lol

lol, I will let him try out a few of my pads and see how that goes :lol
Thanks for the tips guys!

You can't. The best thing you can do is ad a moisture-absorbing fabric or foam layer inside the cowl. This simple fact and solution comes from three decades of mask wearing and costume building. You wear rubber, you sweat. 2 cents

Balaclava made out of sweat/moisture wik (sp?) material is the best not only that keeps u cool.

I hear botox injections work wonders for sweating, plus you could your face frozen in the perfect batman grimace.

I have a beanie made by Trailheads called the Outlast(turns out to be part of a line called Outlast) that works great at cooling. The material, they claim, is used to line space suits. It works great as a temp control, looks like fleece, but really seems to cool when while also capable of insulating and wicking. Might be worth a try.
