So at first when I got my WOK phaser I got some holo tape and did a quick repaint. Then I saw some of the other phasers that have had the "full treatment". Well, I thought, "crap", now I'm going to have to do more to mine. So, I decided to do a little "how to" for others who may want to do some work work on their own phaser.
I think we all know how to get the plugs out. Pry them up with an Xacto blade or drill out. We will be puttying over them latter.
First we want to add some weight. I picked up three bags of lead fishing line weights. There are thirty to a bag. I used one bag for each grip and 20 weights in the top back end of the P2. I did not add any weight to the P1. Dump a bag of weights in the grip and scoot them to the bottom of the grip. About midway up the grip make a dam from FunTack. Mix up some 5 minute epoxy and pour over the weights. The dam keeps the weights and epoxy in place while it cures. It will get a little warm as it cures but it wont damage the plastic.
Now you need to get a Sharpie Super Fine marker. You need the tail cap off this. Use a razor saw and cut thru the body of the pen. Don't use pliers to pull it off or you will damage it.
With a Dremel tool, drill out the trigger stub on the AA trigger.
Test fit the pen in the trigger as you enlarge the hole. Don't make the hole too big. You want as much of the cap coming out but not being able to fit all the way thru.
I used a regular push button switch from Radio Shack and super glued the tail cap to the top of the switch.
And here is what your new trigger should look like.
The next instalment will cover how to mod the LEDs in the P1 control panel with lighting gel. We will then do some glue and putty work. The last instalment will be painting and polishing. The final step will be adding the correct holo tape.
You do have some of my correct holo tape, right? No? go look in the Junkyard then. It's free.
As soon as my gel arrives I'll add more tips and stuff.
