How to model scale tarp.

Need a tip on making a tarp in 1/35 scale for an armor project I'm working on. I'm afraid real cloth might be to heavy in that scale and not be believeable. Any ideas? I want to drape it over an edge on the piece.

Depending on the scale and what type of fabric you want to replicate you have choices. Papertowel, facial tissue, etc can be used. Just dip it in a mixture of water and white glue (Elmers) put it in place and paint after drying. If you use something real thin like tissue, put it place first and then brush on the water/glue mixture. Then mold to shape with a brush handle or similiar.

Yes, yes!! To Robiwon you listen!!

Kleenex works best at 1/35. Experiment with your white glue mixture first, it'll remind you of the first time you used waterslide decals or any other new technique.
Hope to see some pics!

You can do the same thing with "thin" and or "fine" cloth... your wife/girlfriends silk panties for example - not that I know anything about stealing panties...:$:ninja

The advantage of cloth is you can have "frayed edges" like a ripped tarp might have. The general concept - soak in something that will dry hard - cornstach and water, flour and water, elmers glue and water, spray acrylic clearcoat (My fav) etc... The trick is to have it "ready" to be formed into the shape you want - think vaccuforming, it needs something to "take the shape of. Once it dries its pretty much fragile and in the shape you want... Just make sure that whatever its takeing the shape of doesn't permanently attach itself. I found that some type of wire frame works well for "draping". just a thought

I've seen everything from what they have descirbed above to someone who "scuplted" a tarp from what I believe was either milliput/epoxy scuplt as well as super sculpy.I suppose it depends on the kind of tarp?Maybe if you want one that has some fiber/thread tecture, perhaps some fiberglass cloth might be useful as well?I've seeen some finishing cloth with fine threading/glass weaving that might be "in scale" and useful?
