How to make mirror image of a sculpture?

My friends and I are working on a sculpture. It needs to be symmetrical, so we are wanting to make one side perfect and then just mirror it. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Get a contour gauge (woodworking tool) it will help in the process. Unless you have a means to scan it or something more tech-y.

In our industrial design classes we made a symetrical under frame, usually made from interconnected cross sections. Think of the Multi layer puzzles they made of darth vader a few years back. We could then meet up the sculpting clay and use the frame for reference.
