Hello I would like to make a predator mask because I'm doing a bio helmet mask.
Then go make one  o_O

If you're wondering how to, then just use the search bar and you'll find literally hundreds of threads to help you out dude.
You really should have had t common sense to do that in the first place. After all, costume making and helping people do just that is what this site is about.

omg guys your reactions were priceless xd

Hi agh, ( btw I'm experienced with forums so I know how to introduce and stuff ) maybe you didn't, but you should first take a look in the differents sections of the Lair before asking a question, maybe a member did a topic about what you're searching, and I'm not here to teach you how to act, but explain a little what you want to know in particular, sculpting process, materials, techniques ?

anyways...

You guys can sometimes do a really good job at coming off as tools.. for some of the people who boast about the lair being such a welcoming and great place you guys are doing awesome at proving that wrong, your sarcastic replies dont fix anything. Language is obviously a barrier for this guy.

Hey man, welcome to the lair, what I might do is YouTube search "how to make a latex mask" You're bound to get something that'll answer your questions.
You can do some searching here too, but in my experience there's no single thread that compiles ALLL the information needed to make the mask. You'll get your answers quicker in YouTube.

Hi, and welcome.  :)

Making a Predator face mask is a LOT harder than making a bio mask. . . . .

There are several ways of doing it. Which one you want depends on things like how much money you can spend, how much artistic skill you have, how much time you want to take, and whether you want to make it completely yourself or modify something already there.

Some people have made very nice masks out of upholstery padding foam, coated with liquid latex. That is probably the least expensive way.

Some people (including me) get their mask by buying a cheap premade mask (the Rubies Deluxe mask is pretty popular) and then modifying it by adding dreadlocks, teeth,  quills, etc. That is also pretty inexpensive, and requires the least amount of time and artistic skill.

And some people go all-out and make their own mask in the professional way.  That involves sculpting a full Predator head in clay, making a plaster-type mold of it, then casting your mask inside the mold with latex. That method requires the most skill and time.

And of course there is always the option to buy a finished and painted mask from the many people here who produce them. That will probably be the most expensive option, but will get you the very best quality.

You can do a search here for each method ("upholstery foam mask", "modifying Rubies mask", "casting a latex mask") and find a lot of information on the specifics of how each method is done.

Once you decide which method you want to use, ask away. There are lots of people here who have already done each method.

:)

I was in no way trying to be a "tool" as you put it. I was giving a quick rundown of what was involved in making amask. Trying to give some room for thought so the OP would have an idea what was actually involved . Just the post "Hello I would like to make a predator mask." is kind of vague in itself. I was hoping that AGH-12 would possibly start searching the various items I mentioned to see what the various processes involved.

Happy to help.   :D

If you decide to go the Rubies mask route, I can help out with some advice.  I can't help with the upholstery foam or the latex-casting, though---those are things I've not attempted.

Start slinging clay, get it the way you want it-- make a mold, demold it, pour it with latex or silicone, paint it up , add dreads and other accents-- there ya go-- wasnt that easy??
Here is my first try at scultping my own mask. Lots of clay and patience needed.  Here is a quick  rundown of the process I am doing. Others may do it differently but this is my  way.
  • I will sculpt the mask and get it  the way I want it
  • I will create a mold either out of silicone with a mother mold or out of plaster, ultracal, etc. Usually doing it this way the original is destroyed.
  • I will then paint on various layers of silicone or latex, depending on which way I go. After I have buildt up a few layers, I will add extra to the joint where the front and back half meet and put the two halves together
  • If I have done everything correctly at that point, I will be able to separate the halves and pull out a raw mask ready for cleanup and painting.
Here is a link to my sculpt--http://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/29496-my-first-sculpt-try-for-a-head/

Good luck and let us know if you need any more help
