How to add D-ring to MPP replica shroud?

I'm interested in attaching a D-ring to a MPP replica shroud, or perhaps finding a MPP shroud which is already drilled for the D-ring. The resin Blast-tech shroud replica I have is of poor quality and can't be used. The shroud on the MPP replica appears to be metal. If you know of other vendors who offer shrouds pre-drilled with a D-ring attached, please let me know. If not, how should I go about getting a D-ring into the metal shroud without damaging it? Should I just find someone with a drill press?

I do use a drill press...certainly centerpunch where you're going to drill...

There's a spot where it works right, but you probably will mar the shroud just a little, consider it realistic weathering.
It's right in the corner slightly angled, just enough so the drill goes into the metal and doesn't tear through.

Now if you can keep from drilling all the way through, just enough from either side...then you trim a little off of your D-ring and install it, it won't slide around freely once installed.

Also, try to find a thin D ring.

Vaders is thin metal and wide shaped.

I used a Blast-tech on my cut-away.
Use a pin-vice to drill the hole, then there's no chance of slipping off centre.
As Bill says, the D-ring is thin, so it's easy to simply bend it out and bend it back by hand.
