How many props can I paint?

I happen to have two full cans of 6oz Plastikote 7173. The cans are at least 8 years old, so I'm pretty sure its the formula before the change over. Before I start anything I'd like all my props to be the same shade so I'm hoping to use these two cans to paint several props.

Ideally it'll be 2 coats and then clear to seal it. Will the two cans I have cover the props below?

2 Type II phasers
2 Mark X tricorders
2 Sm. PADDs
1 Type IIIb Phaser Rifle

I think you can do it but juuuuuuust barely. The trick here is you have got to get it right the first time. Not enough for re-paints or screw ups. Keep in mind, I'm basing this off of at least 2 coats each.

I thought it would be better to paint them all at one time, or as many as I can at one time to limit the amount wasted spray.

I always have less paint then I think I will and/or it does not go as far as I think it should.:rolleyes

I don't think you will make it but I suppose you can always try and if not you can just re-do everything.:confused

But if you do it, you are right to paint them all at once. Line them up and go, save every drop you can that way.

i usually leave the paint in the cans and spray what i need in a plastic disposable medicine cup. With an airbrush you get thinner coats and less paint that gets sprayed around the pieces your painting, so you do save a lot on paint.

Are the paints thinned pretty well straight out of the can, or do they need thinning? The latter would maybe allow the paint to go further.

I've been in similar situations with low quantities of a certain color of paint. What I do is find a similar color to the limited color I have on hand. I use the similar color for my base coats and then I use my limited color as the final coat.
