How accurate is portumacs ESB chestbox?

Just like the title says...

I´d like to upgrade my old GT box, but can´t afford 400+ USD right now and portumacs look good for the money. But what about their accuracy/ size?

Does he also offer an ESB belt?

I think its just a GT kit, probably not much better than what you have.

If you look around you can score a Gino for less than $400. Much better choice IMO Marcus.

All plastic :( , I got one and was very disappointed, as Darth Kahnt said, it's a recast GT.

Edited: For some reason I didn't see that you were actually upgrading from a GT :D, that's what I was going to recommend. Why don't you like the GT box? I have one and had it professionally shot and it's as fine a box as I've ever seen, just a bit smaller than the ubber accurate stuff, which means for an average guy it's just the right size.

what is so special about this chestbox that it is $400? is it metal?

The better Vader chestboxes ususally sell for that or more if you buy them from the person who made them. Gino makes a super nice and super accurate ROTJ (the one I own) chestbox which costs $500 if you buy from him directly. I got mine from another member and paid less than that and you can pick them up for a good price if you shop around.

The boxes are made of resin, as were the screen used boxes for ESB and ROTJ.

Thanks so far guys.

I´ve seen auctions selling the NEW GT stuff...
So my question is, are there any differences in size between the OLD GT chestbox (have it for about 5-6 years now) and the NEW one?

Anyone who can post a comparsion pic?

Does portumac offer a Vader belt as well, how about its accuracy?.

Thanks, Markus :)

Yes, he does offer a belt. I have heard good things about it, much better than the chestbox. I have not seen one of his belts myself.

It's screen accurate..... and the best always cost the most. :(

I too would like to see a comparison of the old and new box side-by-side for size to see if it really is accurate since I have both the original GT ESB chestbox made in 1999 and my own accurate ANH version ;).

Everything on the portumac box is cast in plastic and looks cheap in person, I was extremely upset when I received mine, I ignorantly assumed that considering the price I was paying that it would be a quality piece with metal parts. I now have the new GT box and every part is a beautifully machined(not cast) alluminum part. I've never owned an older GT box, but there is no comparison between the box I now have and the portumac, I took the lightboard out of the portumac and threw the rest in the trash. Oh, and the paint job was an orangepeel nightmare with superglue residue maring the surface in several places. Okay, I'm done venting. :D

That´s ROTJ afaik.

What are the outer measurements?

This is betxeen ESB & ROTJ, not screen accurate you can find something better.
It's cheap plastic, each size is 5.98 inches (15.2cm)

I was looking at the Portumac ROTJ box and thought it looked quite good, but have read the comments above, and he has ROTS belts up at the moment but not ROTJ.
Someone had passed this person's name to me who's on E-bay and does decent looking ROTJ belts:
"spaceslot"

Its ok for what it is. I'd personally rather spend a few extra $$ and get a Gino, but that's me.

all of my hard parts from my ROTJ vader came from portumac and i am very pleased with how they turned out. maybe the box isn't completely spot on, but the only people who would ever notice that are me, and you :)

overall i couldn't be happier with it.
